Joey, you can not really judge Usab., that would somehow be unprofessional …but we can ask Jeremie as well… see what he thinks

Hmm okay. I can’t also find any good guidelines or something… maybe you’re right.

Okay, picking up Jeffs original suggestion, we are here now:
A 50/40 split of 90 points:
Design (50) split up:
Composition:10
Color scheme: 10
Typography: 10
Originality: 20
Code (40) split up:
Validation (required??): 20
Accessibility: 20
Usability (what is this? Readability?): 10

Well that’s just awkward. Let’s add 10 points to code for “unique application of Textpattern features”.

“unique application of Textpattern features”
for example?
(keep in mind, plugins are not allowed.)

First off thank you for making plugins inelligible. That makes me very happy.
I’m thinking using Txp in non-blog ways. Making a blog site can be fairly easy and could make judging a little harder. We should reward those that can pull off a non-blog site using TXP. That would also add a better variety of designs to the mix.
Like, oh I don’t know, www.stephenjoneslaw.com :-)

Hi Jeff, it´s not me “making plugins inelligible”. :)
DavidM started setting up or gathering the Contest Rules in his WIKI.
The templates shall work out of the box , plugins are not scheduled.
Concerning the point: “unique application of Textpattern features” – would be nice to hear what other people think. about judging it the way you suggest.
(www.stephenjoneslaw.com is really nice, did you increase line-height by now ;))

Mary is that theme installer downloadable? I’d like to give it a work-out.

Re: TXP Template Contest : Starting a Pledge ! Will you sign up ?
‘fraid not, its just up so you can see how it would work. It doesn’t do much, but it has basic functions. The theme install creator part is almost complete, while the other just shows what would happen on the database side when it got installed. Try it out, see what you think. You can’t ‘break’ it, and it will actually ‘do’ something. :)
Now, if you’re programming-inclined, this illustrates that you can already distribute themes.
I’d like to see something just like the plugins tab, with an install, restore, link-back to the author. Help too, in case the theme also includes images or extra files, to explain what needs doing.
As I understand it, that’s along the lines of what Dean plans, but I don’t know any specifics. I’m a little wary because of this, that I might take a different track than he’d like to proceed (making my work useless).

hi mary, just ask Dean. If you do not get him “on the phone” :) ask Sencer. Sencer is usually very kind and helpfull.
