Re: there's a party at #textpattern on irc.freenode.net and you're invited

IRC Notes: We broke a record yesterday, 20 active participants on the #textpattern channel.
  • [15:03] sangamon: 20 people, is that a record?
  • [15:03] guillaumebokiau: it’s a record :)
  • [15:04] Manfre: yup
  • [15:05] MichelB: yay, just joined the channel the first time

Today’s Topic: Joomla! 1.5 stable is released

Re: there's a party at #textpattern on irc.freenode.net and you're invited

The TxParty is over, for me.
The news about a TxP fork made me really feel bad.
And Bert said that because I invited everyone to join the IRC channel, I was the starter of this revolution.
So it made me feel even worst. (Maybe in the future, this will make me some kind of a great hero or great ego, at least, or a motherf***** that shouldn’t have ever started this thread)

I wanna cry.

Don’t feel bad Julian, the fork was happening regardless of this post. From chatting with everyone else, it was a long time coming. Your post has helped to make the devs (Mary and Ruud) interact with members of the txp in a more realtime fashion.

Re: there's a party at #textpattern on irc.freenode.net and you're invited

IRC Notes: Our hero, Maniqui, came by yesterday. He was a bit saddened, but he should be happy, because for the first time in a very long time, the Textpattern devs are interacting with their community in an honest and open way.

Re: there's a party at #textpattern on irc.freenode.net and you're invited

Not everyone has time to go on IRC, so its not really correct to say that the devs are interacting with their community. Actually a tiny proportion of their community. But I would agree that any communication is better than none.

For those of us who can’t spend time on chat channels, what exactly is this news about a fork?

It’s not as if we weren’t interacting with the community here on the forum.

Like I said above, both yourself and Mary have opened up on IRC more so than you’ve ever done on this forum. In two weeks, I’ve learned more about what makes the TxP devs tick, than what I was able to find out in two years of hanging out in these forums. IRC is just another form of communication, and when you’re talking about an Open Source project, communitycation is key.

So could you communicate what is the news about a fork of TXP?

Is that the same XPattern that we already know about?

Re: there's a party at #textpattern on irc.freenode.net and you're invited

Is there going to be a post on this so we can know more? Like what is it about, who the developers are, what are they looking to achieve, what’s the difference between the fork and TXP

1. Not a nice thing to say. As if they have not been honest in the past.
2. Speaking of a group of, how many? 10? 20? people as the txp community seems a bit like megalomania to me.

Well it’s been hard to touch them, yes.

And they are 3.
