Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Bloke, I love you ;)

I haven’t upgraded the site I’m using this on yet, but after reading your post, I certainly will (the site isn’t really ‘active’ yet, anyway). And I’ll try to take notes of all the issues I encounter and post them here.

Thank you for taking an interest!

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Well, what a surprise. I upgraded, and the MLP pack works as before… :) Guess I shouldn’t have been so credulous ;)
I must add that the site in question is a very simple one, with only two languages. I didn’t encounter any of the problems mentioned earlier in this thread, but then I probably don’t use all possible features.

This is what I did:
  1. modified txplib_db.php according to ruud’s post
  2. uploaded the 4.0.5. textpattern directory and index.php
  3. uploaded the MLP files from /mlp/textpattern/ to textpattern/lib/ and textpattern/txp_img/

When loading site.com/textpattern/index.php, on the languages page, I got the following warnings (Production status was Live):

A problem occured while loading the plugin: l10n -> Warning: array_key_exists() [function.array-key-exists]: The second argument should be either an array or an object on line 552

A problem occured while loading the plugin: l10n -> Warning: array_key_exists() [function.array-key-exists]: The second argument should be either an array or an object on line 552

A problem occured while loading the plugin: l10n -> Warning: Cannot use a scalar value as an array on line 1412

but they went away as soon as I updated the first language.

Pre-flight check:
------------------------
Some Textpattern files are out of date:
	/lib/txplib_db.php
clean_url_data_failed:
------------------------

(the ‘clean_url_data_failed’ doesn’t seem to be a problem, clean url’s are working, though I think it wasn’t there before I installed MLP)

The BOM was back, but with ruud’s instructions it was easy to get rid of.

PHP 4.4.6
MySQL 4.1.21-standard

So far, so good. Though I probably haven’t been very helpful for debugging… ;) Next, I need to rebuild a couple of tri-lingual sites but I’m afraid that will take some more time…

On the contrary, that’s great thanks. Glad it worked for you. The step-by-step is extremely useful: I can look those warnings up and try and fix them.

clean_url_data_failed is a little more perplexing. Anyone any idea what that means?

Many thanks for your help. It’s great to have someone who likes to tinker with stuff (speaking of which, smd_fuzzy_find has just this minute been updated which fixes the bugs you spotted a while ago).

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Doing a site at the moment using MLP and have had to use TXP 4.04 to get it all working and I have come across a rather bizarre problem.

For some reason MLP adds a blank line at the top of all HTML pages that it is used on, which is not a problem in any browser except internet explorer on the MAC where a question mark is inserted on the blank line which breaks up the page.

Seems its a problem on other MLP sites as well. None of my other sites that have been designed using TXP allone have this issue. Anyway just wondering if anyone has encountered this oddity?

/Christian

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

christian, that may be caused by the BOM at the beginning of the document. Follow the link to find out how to remove it.

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

I am pretty sure its MLP which causes it. I don’t have this problem on any other site that uses textpattern (i.e. without MLP). I am digging my way through all the code at the moment to see if I can spot the problem somewhere.

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

Ahh thank you, was too quick there.

Now I have 500 internal server errors though so don’t know if it solved the problem.

Edit: Got it all to work, the BOM trick solved my problem with IE for the MAC.

Re: MLP - The Multi-Lingual Publishing Pack

evening folks,
you are my last hope to get this plugin to work. i have tried everything, different php version (4.4.1), different mysql version (4.x.21) different txp version (4.0.4 stable) it just doesn’t wanna play with me. and the error message doesn’t make sense to me. so in the hope some of you guys/gals have an idea what else i could try, i have posted the mlp-tab error message, and the diagnostic output.

thank you all,
jmk

1. It requires MySQL Privileges 1 SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, CREATE, CREATE TEMPORARY TABLES, ALTER, LOCK TABLES, INDEX, DROP or above, current install is missing privs – or grants on DB (`db23543` as `db23543`) cannot be evaluated.
