plug in problems with 4.0.5?

Well done team, for 4.0.5.

I haven’t upgraded yet, and it always makes me nervous in case something goes wrong – that my OK working site will cease to be that.

In particular, are there any known problems with plug ins not working with 4.0.5?

Re: plug in problems with 4.0.5?

I don’t think we’ve made changes that would affect plugins between 4.0.4 and 4.0.5, but if there are this is probably a nice topic to gather all such plugin compatibility issues, although they should also be reported in the author support topic for those plugins. Make sure you upgrade to the latest version of the plugins.

Re: plug in problems with 4.0.5?

I’m quite a collector of plugins, and haven’t happened to stumble over one which doesn’t work in 4.0.5. We’ve got one report about zem_event not displaying its calendar icon, which is probably caused by having jQuery prepacked with 4.0.5 now.

So, if you’d like to hunt for trouble, look for plugins on the admin end which make use of the jQuery Javascript library, and test them with your site. And in the quite impossible case your sites breaks in pieces after the upgrade, you can always just go back to 4.0.4 by uploading the older Txp version and restoring your database backup (you do have a backup, haven’t you?).

Yes, thanks.
If no one posts here, certainly not with anything that should concern me, I’ll go ahead with it….but for the sake of avoiding unnecessary work, I’ll hold on for a moment…..

Re: plug in problems with 4.0.5?

It seems that the Multi Language Pack is incompatible with 4.0.5.

Somewhere In the plug-in thread (or in the plug-in homepage), the author says that new releases of TxP will need a new version of the plug-in.
In fact, I have tried to update a test site with MLP before reading that, and… the site has been broken.

Also, I have compared the txplib_db.php file (4.0.5) with the one from MLP and they are very very differents.

So… it seems we will have to wait to see the MLP working in 4.0.5. FYI, I have read in the MLP thread that Steve (one of the authors of the MLP) may not have time to invest to continue the development of the plug-in.

BTW, sorry for my english.

Re: plug in problems with 4.0.5?

MLP is not a pure plugin.
I haven’t tried MLP at all, but to make it work, I’m guessing you’d have to compare txplib_db.php (4.0.4) to txplib_db.php (4.0.5) and merge those differences in the txplib_db.php from MLP.

Re: plug in problems with 4.0.5?

bas_img_selector, working in 4.0.4 no longer seems to work in 4.0.5. the author also seems to have stepped out.

i have no real experience with php at all, but im looking at the code for the plugin and it seems to be unable to pull the category listing correctly from txp anymore.

were there any variables involving categories that were changed from 4.0.4 to 4.0.5? i know that seems VERY general/noobish but im trying to figure it out on my own despite having little to no php knowledge

bas_img_selector works for me on two different sites with 4.0.5

Re: plug in problems with 4.0.5?

interesting! i seem to be having the same issue as a few other ppl at the end of the bas_img_selector author support thread…the category dropdown menu tells me i have no categories even when i do. as a test, i set up a fresh 4.0.4 install (albeit on a different server) and the plugin works just fine there. i’ll set up 4.0.5 there as well to see if its some odd server issue.

addendum: the server running 4.0.4 now has 4.0.5 installed and bas_img_selector works just fine on it!! hmmm. i wonder what the hell is going on with my other 4.0.5 installation on a different server. at least i know its not a txp issue now :)

Re: plug in problems with 4.0.5?

I had been using mdp_calendar, but after upgrading to 4.0.5 I found that, though the plugin still works, I could no longer edit it (I wanted to change the date format). When I try to edit it, after hitting save, I get a 404 error.

So, I decided to try to install the zem_event plugin. I can’t even install it; I get a 404 error. As an experiment, I tried installing it on a site running 4.0.3. Same problem. I actually have an old site still running 1.0rc1; I tried installing zem_event there, and it works with no problem.

Obviously downgrading everything to 1.0rc1 isn’t the solution. What could be going on here?

Re: plug in problems with 4.0.5?

I suspect that your host has established security measures which forbid posting of “code” through forms. To verify this, shortly rename the .htaccess file in your site’s root folder to anything else and report back if you receive any visible error messages upon posting an amended plugin in that state.
