Re: Plugin Requests

Request: Anonymous file upload with description and category

Bounty: $20 from me, anyone else?

I need a plugin that would create a form to allow anonymous uploads to the files directory of a txp install. Ideally the form would have the following fields:
  1. browse/upload field for the file
  2. description field
  3. optional category field (with an attribute to allow a default category applied to all uploads from the form)

The form would upload the designated file to the files folder and post the description and category information to the txp database.

Re: Plugin Requests

similar to mrdale’s request

More flexible xhtml forms. ie a form which can either upload binary files and text fields or send them by email to an address specified.
User controlled form fields.
I recently had to create a page for a call. I would have loved it to be in my main site but as far as i could figure out txp was not able to handle it.
here is the <a href=“http://imca.neme.org/call2006”>form</a> I ended up configuring provided as an example.

Re: Plugin Requests

request 2:)
A conditional plugin which can be placed in the head tag of a template. Function: checks article id(s) and, if that article, a js/css/whatever script loads which is relevant to that article. something like <code><txp:if_article_id id=“20,43,58”><script type=“text/javascript” src=“myscript.js”></script></txp:if_article_id></code>

>I’m aware of the txp existing tag and a similar plugin but they do not work in the head of the article.

i’ve just tested ras_if_article_id and it works just fine in the head element of a single article page, txp 4.0.3 rev. 1310. What are you trying to achieve?

Re: Plugin Requests

Robert and colak: yes, in the current stable version, in order to make use of it in the head of your page, you’d need to turn off comment auto-append and use the article tag to call a form that contains the plugin tag. Alex just recently checked in changes to svn (what will be 4.0.4) so that this will no longer be necessary. :)

Re: Plugin Requests

mrdale re #2 above,

How much customisation are you looking for in the upload form?

I mean, apart from the optional field, do you want to be able to use a TXP form to specify the layout (like the way the comment form can be customised) or are you happy with a fixed layout set out by the plugin author as long as it meets the requirements you posted above?

I’m kinda interested in taking this one on but that’s not for sure – yet.

Re: Plugin Requests

Re: Anon file upload.

I am willing to claim it on the following basis…

  • I’ll do it without a ransom/bounty but, as my family need to eat too, I will accept any donation the TXP community cares to make for its development.
  • Requirements as per mrdale’s first post for the initial version.
  • Possible extension to TXP form parsing for more custom layout for a later release.
  • Possible extension to emailing for a later release.
  • This doesn’t form a legal contract! I will attempt it, if what you get passes your evaluation, then feel free to donate or not, that’s up to you.

Re: Plugin Requests

Net-Carver> Great! I’ll crank up my paypal account, and thanks.

  • Since it is a pretty simple concept, I don’t need form custimization yet. CSS styling the elements will be fine, so an id for each of the pieces would be appreciated.
  • An email response to sender and admin would be really great. In fact It’d be nice to have in the first version.

Anyone else who could use this capability could add something too.

Re: Plugin Requests

Re Paypal. I know it is very popular out there but it <a href=“https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-approved-signup-countries-outside”>does not clear cypriot credit cards</a>. I would be willing to contribute but do offer alternative services.;)

Re: Plugin Requests

Is the hpw_most_popular_articles plugin and the hpw_shared still available somewhere? I accept a screenshot of the code :D

Thanx in advance

Re: Plugin Requests

If I understood correctly, this is now the place for plugin requests?

Would anybody be interested of taking over the guestbook -plugin and making it possible to have custom fields as described here?

If custom fields are not possible to make, other option could be making guestbook plugin to support country regognization automatically like WP:s IPnation. That plugin adds two database tables and is quite ridiciously huge considering it´s usage that is to show visitors/commenters country so visitors/commenters direct input with custom fields would be just better.

If somebody is interested, I am willing to donate/participate on ransom.

Re: Plugin Requests

Show/Hide fields and Tabs for better user friendliness

I would like to request a plugin that would serve to make “user-friendliness” a greater virtue of TXP.

current problem:

I find it difficult to tell clients: “See this keyword box, you’ll never need to use it, don’t touch it”. This has often seemed unprofessional to me. There are plenty of opinions about this, but I have heard enough mention of the hope of “hiding” certain parts of the textpattern backend to certain levels of users, that I feel its worth asking for the development of such a plugin.

desired functionality:

  • ability to hide unnecessary fields in the “write” tab. I’m not sure which are viable and which cannot be “hidden”, but as many as possible would be ideal
  • ability to hide any of the four category lists (for those that the system doesn’t use) under the “organize” tab
  • ability to hide any unnecessary fields in the “image”, “files”, and “links” tabs (particularly the “inner” parts of that where one assigns thumb, alt text, category, sort order, etc)
  • ability to hide even the appearance of tabs that a certain level of user “ought” not to see. For instance a staff writer shouldn’t even have to be tempted with the “organize” tab.

Interface

I foresee this being part of the “extensions” tab that is often used by admin end plugins. Perhaps it could be a list of fields corresponding to “nnnnnn_tab” with radio buttons for show or hide.
Each option might have a list of checkboxes corresponding to each level of user to assign whether or not the option is visible. Perhaps there is a better grid to handle this kind of functionality more efficiently? If the would-be plugin developer would be willing to adjust the level of cost for the plugin in exchange for help designing the interface (from me and/or others) I would be interested.

If anyone has any other ideas to add to this request, I would love to hear them, however, I think this is already a very tall order, and perhaps already too tall, so please keep it within reason.

possible solution:

there has been much work into the Rights and Permissions workgroup, but alas, we are all busy, and its hard to say when this kind of thinking will come to fruition.

Pledge of funds

I will pledge $50 (us) dollars to start this off. I am hoping that others will join the fray.
I expect that a plugin of this magnitude will take some time, as is worth more than 50 dollars.

That’s all folks.
Thanks.

Matthew
