Re: Plugin Requests

Matthew, I can do this one.
The actual hiding will have to be done with javascript, otherwice whole tabs’ php would have to be rewritten.
If there are some especially notable posts in the “Rights and Permissions” discussion, could you point to them please, as i didn’t read the seven pages yet.

Re: Plugin Requests

Bump: Added Matthew’s request. I haven’t marked it as “claimed” yet as it appears some dialog is still forthcoming? but let me know otherwise.

Re: Plugin Requests

How about a shoutbox? Anyone eager to implement one? I think it would be a useful and popular addition to the Textpattern feature set.

Something like this for example.

Wouldn’t this example drain the bandwidth? (maybe I’m wrong; just thinking)

Re: Plugin Requests

Inspired,
I don’t know that anything in the rights and permissions workgroup is applicable.
It mainly focuses on rights and roles, and is a much much bigger project.

This plugin would only focus on one small part of that issue, which is controlling visability based on permissions, but wouldn’t affect any of true permissions really accept for those things hidden through javascript. I hope that makes sense.

Unless you have some clear idea about how to implement a grid for the control of visibility, and/or if you feel it would help to have someone like me or others contribute on that end, I can work on something over the rest of the weekend (ready for tuesdayish) to “visualize” that behavior (via a mockup of some sort).

Let me know what you want to do?

Thanks Inspired, looking forward to it.

M

Re: Plugin Requests

Well, I have some ideas on how to implement it and will take time think and apply them :) Of course if you have a particular vision, please share it perhaps as part of the request. Won’t tell you more now, leaving to take some experiments.
Mary, you can add this to claimed. Thanks for care.

Re: Plugin Requests

Hey, I would be willing to adapt my flash shoutbox and make it a plugin for txp. Would that be nice enough?

Features:
upload swf and js file using files tab. If you already have my next walk_qt plugin installed, v0.6(not out yet), i’ll make this plugin use the same js file.
Embed flash via js for Eolas workaround.

The only thing I’m worried about is db support. Perhaps I could make it use the txp_discuss table?

What does everyone think?
A solution on the DB side that I haven’t thought of….?

Re: Plugin Requests

Walker, it might be better to create tables for your plugin to avoid mess.
There are functions to allow the user install/uninstall tables for your plugin, that i borrowed from a Mary’s plugin (thanks Mary), and made them somewhat generic.

(custom textpattern tables to masses?!)

Re: Plugin Requests

Yura,

Thanks for the nice examples of how to do that (and Mary too). I will probably need to make use of custom DB tables for a forthcoming plugin so that will save me a lot of work.

Aside: It’s nice to see my plugin being used on a live site!

Re: Plugin Requests

Yeah, after spending quite some time struggling with textile to just display the code i decided to switch to your plugin. Thank you too, Steve ;)

Re: Plugin Requests

I have a request – $20 if anyone can help. Bear with me while I explain, I’m useless at explaining stuff so I’ll try and be as clear as I can.

My friend is a photographer, and has been looking for a CMS to automate the process of uploading sets of images to his site.

The layout is pretty simple – A front page with a “What’s New” column consisting of a small thumbnail preview of the set, it’s date/title and the number of images in the set, and a gallery page with links to each category and the sets within them.

His folder naming scheme on the server is pretty logical: gallery/category/set. What he’s looking to achieve is to be able to upload his images to the server, e.g. gallery/bicycles/red_bicycle, log into Textpattern and point to that folder, enter a title/category and the number of images in the set, click “Post”, and have the front page update, gallery page update, and a thumbnail gallery for that set be created.

I think that’s pretty much it. If you need me to be more specific don’t hesitate to ask.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Plugin Requests

Check this out

We built it a while ago and have been using it to build many artist’s websites. We’re currently: cleaning up the gallery management page’s design, adding gallery ordering and sub-galleries, and trying to get the whole app to have a unified appearance.
