Titles gone after 4.0.3 to 4.0.6 upgrade
I jumped from 4.0.3 directly to 4.0.6 and appeared to have a pretty smooth transition, but my articles do not have titles. They are in the database and appear just fine on a recent_articles list.
I have just three active plugins. None of them are used on problem pages: dru_random_text, rss_admin_db_manager, rss_link_date.
Diagnostics pre-flight checks pass.
The only problem I was having prior to the upgrade was that categories were not functioning correctly (I messed them up by deleting one then trying to re-enter it). They still aren’t working, but I don’t know how that would affect titles and not articles. I have also tried removing references to categories on affected pages, to no avail.
Archive search raised possibilities, but nothing has helped yet. Ideas?

Can you post a Tag Trace?

Thanks for looking, Ruud.
I’ve tweaked the email addresses. Otherwise straight.
Noticed also the RSS and ATOM feeds do include the title and article.

I can’t help with your titles problem, but as to the categories, Txp 4.0.3 had a bug I encountered a while ago: child categories became invisible, but were still in the db when deleting the parent

Interesting, Martin. I’ll be looking into my category issue again once my titles problem is resolved.

So titles are only missing wherever you’ve used the title
tag, is that what you’re saying?

Re: Titles gone after 4.0.3 to 4.0.6 upgrade
Yes, Mary, that seems to be the case. And I have the title tag in my default form as the first line…
<h3><txp:permlink><txp:title /></txp:permlink></h3>
I’ve tried it without the h and permlink tags, and replaced h3 with p. No luck. The rest of the form displays.

Here is another post about vanishing titles. Looks like she solved it, but the thread is not clear about that.

Re: Titles gone after 4.0.3 to 4.0.6 upgrade
Resolved …and the clue was in my own troubleshooting history. I had an unused custom field named “Title”. Once upon a time, that worked because of the uppercase T. But between 4.0.3 and 4.0.6, the restriction on using title/Title for a custom field must have become more stringent.
The wiki page on custom_field still uses the word Title under Example 1. I’ve changed my field to “Book Title” and article titles now appear just the way they’re supposed to.
