How to delete a "phantom category" ?

Hi,

I’m struggling with a strange problem:

A while ago I deleted a category that hadn’t been assigned. It isn’t listed any longer under organise > categories nor does it appear on the popups in the write tab. However it’s still there in the popup rendered by txp_popup.
Also when I try to recreate it, txp informs me that the category already exists although it doesn’t show up – very puzzling.

Would anyone have an idea how to get rid of it?

(txp 4.0.4)

Cheer Martin

Re: How to delete a "phantom category" ?

I solved it.

When I deleted the category I took a “shortcut” by deleting the entire parent category. Apparently that caused one child category to get stuck somewhere while not being listed anywhere except on the txp_popup.
What I did was recreating the parent category and the “lost child” showed up instantly and could be deleted.

Cheers Martin

PS: I posted this since it seems like a bug to me.

This was fixed for 4.0.4 – when you delete a parent category, all child categories get updated to have no parent, so they are not lost. I don’t know why this would not have worked for you.

Re: How to delete a "phantom category" ?

I know the reason now: I deleted the parent cat I while still running 4.0.3. When I discovered the problem, I decided to install 4.0.4 hoping that would somehow magically fix it.

Good to know it’s been fixed!
