Re: Did anybody try mint?

Hi Stuart. Any idea why there are so many calls to favicon.ico? I use TXP 4.02 and there is no favicon.ico in sight. My visits are from touchtelindia.net, Safari on Mac 416.13.

What I see is a mess. Would you mind visiting a few pages in the site and see what is recorded for you in SlimStat? Might help me figure out what’s going on, or if I am crazy ;-)

As “#1 Mint freak,” I can honestly say that Mint is exactly wht I hoped for it to be, and a bit extra; however, I don’t agree with Shaun’s idea of “rolling” stats, so I’ve done “Remove visit data more than 104 weeks old,” instead of the default 5 or whatever.

Now that is weird isn’t it? Lots of favicon.ico hits and no favicon. I’m not sure what’s happening here but I note from your source that you have the “img-popper” javascript running. I wonder if that’s interfering in some way. Do you want to try switching it off for a few seconds whilst you visit a few pages and see if there’s any difference?

Re: Did anybody try mint?

Hi I did turn off the upm_img_popper and lets see what happens. I will keep it off until we see favicon.ico disappear. So far, all I see is me visiting the homepage even though I am moving around the site :-(

Re: Did anybody try mint?

Are you still getting “favicon” cuz that puzzles the heck out of me?

Re: Did anybody try mint?

All browsers (well, I think “all”. I know for a fact IE does) request that file, favicon.ico, whether it actually exists or not.

Re: Did anybody try mint?

Well favicon.ico is getting requested by Safari then, because that’s the browser associated with the request. Take a look at the stats (link above) maybe you can see something because I am a little stumped. If someone can go through the site pages then check the stats it would be helpful, because only the homepage shows up when I browse through the site. I don’t know if its just me.

Re: Did anybody try mint?

I don’t have much luck with this app. I installed it on another TXP site and I get no hits at all. Removed it and re-installed it, nothing. Seems nothing gets written to the database but my settings are correct. Perplexed!

Edit: I should have been perplexed. I forgot to include the file! Duh.

Re: Did anybody try mint?

I was using MeasureMap beta for a little while, and love the interface, very easy to understand and basically built for bloggers. I agree Mint is too cluttered, but it does provide accurate stats. Currently I’m using this to track my statistics (TXP plugin), very accurate and is easy to setup: http://www.randomoddness.com/coding

I haven’t tried Google Analytics, but have purchased a copy of mint for a new site I’m working on, for no real reason. When the site finally launches I’ll probably have that TXP Plugin, Mint, and Analytics all running, just so I can see everything fromd ifferent views…
