Removing paragraph tags in display excerpts

I’ve searched and read discussions on this subject but I couldn’t determine what to do.
I need to have the paragraph tags to not render when displaying exerpts. I would like to have the exeprt text display inline with text, not dropped down into a new paragraph.

You can turn off textile for excerpts under Advanced options (in the ‘Write’ screen).

Besides me fealing enormously stupid for not noticing that…..
Thanks for that tip.

One more for you….(hopefully more of a challenge). How do I change that checkbox so that it’s not enabled by default?

Well, you can uncheck it by default for the excerpt with this plugin.
