textgarden.org

As mentioned in this thread we’re going to make textgarden.org, a central repository of downloadable Txp layout themes, which will be organised by popularity and, eventually, by category (weblog, photolog, brochure site, nytimes.com, etc). Anyone will be able to submit.

The great news is that template designer extraordinaire and all-around good norwegian Sivert Nielsen (sivni to you and me) has agreed to take on the building and running of the site. I’ve given him carte blanche to take it in any direction he sees fit, including taking on others to help, so if you’d be interested in helping out please let sivni know.

Yay!

Re: textgarden.org

Good news.

I hope translation and i18n will be included de facto as a core feature, it would greatly improve the adoption and learning curve of TXP for non-english speaking people.

One note about the project: I really hope clean semantic code, and true accessibility will be a major expectation of textgarden. That was one, maybe the major one, isue with csszengarden, which was more of a technological and/or graphical demo than guide-tutorial for beginners, or a template repository (even is the licence of the design allowed this).

Re: textgarden.org

…and (unless I’m completely mislead about this thread) thanks to davidm for coming up with the idea and generating enough interest in and excitement with the idea to get it moving.

A toast to DavidM, may his projects be interesting, and his clients plentiful!

Re: textgarden.org

Thanks kibitzer – bizartist !

I did not think I’d have time to do this properly, so I declined and suggested a few names to Dean, Sivni being the natural candidate if you consider the great work he has done for textpattern templates :)

I’ll get back to work next week on the template “contest”, and figure out how we can fit it with textgarden.org,

Anyway, that was great news !

Re: textgarden.org

There’s a small typo in http://www.textgarden.org

It says…

This is textpattern.org, a central repository of downloadable Textpattern layout themes. Design and setup needs to done and will probably be a live process. So feel free to drop in and check out whats new.

It should say…
