Alerts when Textpattern Blog updated

Is there way of “subscribing” to the TxP Blog such that we can be advised as to when a new entry has been posted?

It’s a shame that the RSS came and went.

I still have an account at Feedly but I never check it.

My OS is too old for the latest from Brent Simmons

There are many Feed reader apps to use. On macOS I use Vienna (10.11+ – download from GH, here), NetnewsWire works well, requires a recent version of macOS though.

RSS works just fine here on NetNewsWire.

You can also set up an IFTTT recipe to monitor https://textpattern.com/rss and send you an email. That’s what I do with GitHub releases (on top of the Atom feed), works really well.

I used to use Vienna when I was a High Sierra hold out, that might work for you.

actually i don’t use any RSS stuff any more… Too busy. So an email alert from IFTT is the best solution for me.

PS i am a hold out on Sierra because of Photoshop/Adobe. I am running CS5 non subscription apps. i refuse to pay a monthly tax. AFAIK CS5 wont run on newer versions of OSX. F#$K Adobe!

Aside – and I know you didn’t ask – the Affinity suite of products on macOS are excellent for the (one-off) price, and have replaced the Adobe products I used to use occasionally. You’ll need a relatively recent macOS to try them out, but definitely worth an evaluation if you have another Mac you can use.

Yes those are very good products – and quite similar to the adobe ones to use, so an easy transition. and they support macOS back to 10.9…

for photos and similar I use Acorn though, but I think it needs a recent version of MacOS.

Wow, that far? Impressive.

I remember Acorn from one of the Mac bundles of yesteryear (?Macheist). I learned about so many great apps that way, and ended up paying for upgrades since they were so useful.
