Textpattern in two minutes

I snuck an article up on our site in the About section the other day, and Phil added a great header image to it.

Textpattern in two minutes

The article won’t be anything new to forum regulars, but I wanted to point it out as a resource, in case anyone encounters generic “Can Textpattern do x, y, z” questions from potential clients or people on the forum. It should be a useful little article for anyone unfamiliar with what we do and a very brief primer on how things hang together.

Hope it’s useful!

xFor me at least, another amazing underated feature of txp is com_connect. I did not see in WP or any other CMS an equivalent plugin more flexible than ours. Shared on twitter: https://twitter.com/NeMeOrg/status/1267704572262432768

I’m liking the uptick of non-release blog posts on .com, very good.

Re: Textpattern in two minutes

Bit of topic but maybe this /about/ section should be included in the RSS feed. ATM it appears that only /weblog// is included.

Unless Vienna (my feed reader) is doing it wrong – but that would be a first.

It is pretty darn flexible isn’t it. We could do with an article about it. And maybe some txptips on how to extend it to do stuff like HTML email or integration with other systems or to do some biz logic on submission. The delivery hook allows it to become a platform for your imagination!

Thanks for tweeting the article.

Re: Textpattern in two minutes

Concise and sweet!

Textpattern is smart enough to know that /blog is a section landing page that displays a list of articles in that section, whereas /blog/how-to-use-textpattern is an individual article.

I would recognize /section/ by an ending slash, and articles by /some/url-title with no trailing /.

Good point. Fixed in the article, thank you.

Re: Textpattern in two minutes

I tried to read from a novice perspective and found the term “Forms” might need some explaining words to make clear that it’s “snippets” in Textpattern terminology, not HTML forms.

Nothing else.

Okay. Maybe the link between the heading and its opening sentence could be stronger…

Reusable content snippets for even more power Your templates can use Forms to…

I’ll see if I can tweak it.

Re: Textpattern in two minutes

@Uli I added three words and cut two:

Your templates can employ reusable snippets, called Forms, to help reduce long-term site maintenance.

Better?
