browser with built in privacy

No it’s not TOR:)

cliqz is made in Germany and is “based on Mozilla’s Firefox and comes with a built-in anonymous quick search engine and various privacy functions. It offers comprehensive protection against activity tracking and identity theft (phishing), an integrated ad blocker and many other useful features such as automatically encrypted website connections (HTTPS Everywhere) and a video downloader. To complement Cliqz quick search, you can set an alternative search engine such as Cliqz Search

Re: browser with built in privacy

It’s criticized a bit in the fediverse. Something about being supported by a ‘publishing house’, having a ‘proprietary layer’, and essentially amounting to being a ‘German version of Chrome’.

I don’t know what all that means, exactly, but they are working on supporting support Tor’s Onion services.

Re: browser with built in privacy

So, from a quick look it appears a rebranded version of Firefox with Ghostery build in. The company “Cliqz” owns “Ghostery” it appears. If they integrate support for Onion services, that will make it hmm a bit suspicious.

Standard Firefox plus ghacks-user give more freedom to configure and control.
