You are right about the adds. I have ABS installed which blocks almost all of them.

Or the built-in ”Reader View” in Safari and its equivalent in Firefox (Microsoft Edge also has a similar reader).

The author wrote as coda: This is easily solvable: I’ll get a watch. It definitely won’t be a smart one. Which is just fitting perfectly ( I recently bought a watch, and I don’t walk around with an aways connected ‘smart’ piece of glass).
The whole series is well worth a read. It makes one thing abundantly clear: the whole ”cord-cutting” exercise is not for the average person.

Just a side-note that I have removed reliance on Google Fonts API from the default Textpattern public theme that will ship with Textpattern 4.8 (it also means that theme can run offline without any internet connectivity).

Three months later. this thread needs to be re-activated:)
elastos, an open source, decentralised, blockchain based, network operating system.
The first part of their video sounds and looks like an Adam Curtis documentary I would normally enjoy, if it did not degrade itself into a sales pitch. Regardless, the project seems promising enough for the mainstream never to adopt it.

Am I the only person having a problem understanding that site? I understand perhaps a handful of individual terms on the home page but despite all the diagrams they don’t paint any kind of picture for me. What does it do? What is it for? Why should I be interested? I’m just confused!

Re: Decentralized software alternatives
I like the video. It gives me hope there’s something here that will be really good. But then I click around and it’s over my head, for example blockchain. I think they are looking for highly technical wizards to help transform their vision into reality. And we’ve all seen that kind of promising idea many times now… But good luck to it if it’s all coming from the right place and is not trying to cash in on a need for promising new internet environments.
