Plugin request: excerpt now
How about a plugin that scans the body text for specific text combo, strips that combo out and makes all preceeding text the excerpt. I’m sure there are complications involved in this, but atleast you would be able to specifiy exactly where the split is. An idea or not?

The plugin will also need to be able to output the article text since it needs to remove that special character from the text also. So it needs two tags.
Just a reminder to anyone who wants to build the plugin. I currently can not do it.

There would be a much simplier solution if admin side plugins were supported. Just hook the article save to store both.

If you’re going to go to the trouble of placing a text marker in your article, isn’t that just about the same amount of work as pasting the text into the excerpt field?
