Re: adi_matrix – Multi-article update tabs

Possible feature consideration to this awesome plugin: the ability to add a new article to the matrix, e.g. add a link near the Title somewhere to add a new article.

This may have to be a two-pronged approach:

  1. If the matrix contains articles from a single section, a new row could open up directly in the matrix. Type the details in the matrix fields, then when you save, it does an update on all the rows except the new ones, which get inserted (or just do an upsert on the lot).
  2. If the matrix is from multiple sections, either a) prompt for the section in the new row OR add an icon indicating this link will direct you to the Write panel. Bonus points if the article can be pre-filled with any matrix criteria (such as category).

Use case: I’m helping someone update a site and am considering a matrix for the stock list. One article for each product. So each day, the guy visits his stock matrix and updates the custom fields (e.g. price changes, whether an item has been sold that day, etc). But if new stock has come in, he needs to be able to quickly add a new product to the ‘stock’ section and have it appear in the matrix. Make, model, price, availability, …

Is this doable? Or desirable for other users of the plugin? Or is this too narrow and something that should be done as a companion plugin? If so, could you please add some hooks in the plugin so that I can add something like that? Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this.

Re: adi_matrix – Multi-article update tabs

I find that interesting too.
What would be nice too is next to each article the list of smd_tags associate, to check, add or especially delete bulk.

If adi puts some callback hooks in the plugin in some cunning places, this might be achievable from the smd_tags plugin.

If you set Publish to Yes in the matrix config, don’t you get a blank row at the bottom of the matrix list for adding a new article?

Hah! RTFM. Thank you, kind sir. That’ll do nicely.

Re: adi_matrix – Multi-article update tabs

Hi,

with Textpattern 4.7.1 i get the error “Fatal error: Call to undefined function glz_custom_fields_MySQL() in /../textpattern/lib/txplib_misc.php(1826) : eval()’d code on line 1107”.

Have somebody an idea?

The latest version of glz_custom_fields has been recoded quite considerably, so a lot of the glz_functions that adi_matrix uses are no longer in existence. I’ve made contact with the current curator. Please be bear with us.

Hi, is adi_matrix working with glz_cf on 4.7.1 meanwhile? Just asking :)

Re: adi_matrix – Multi-article update tabs

Hi Adi. First time user of The Matrix!

When I try to create my first matrix, and click the ‘Update matrix settings’, which I’m guessing is the right button by fact of it’s position (not undeniably clear text)1, I get this error

User_Error “Incorrect integer value: ‘’ for column ‘criteria_status’ at row 1”.

All I can do is click ‘OK’ on the error window. Which brings me back to the Article Matrix panel with all of my selections gone. Nothing happened.

I was trying to sort on a custom field for Issue numbers (thus Arabic numerals), many such fields being empty still, and using a sort type of ‘numerical’. Other than that, I don’t know what the error could be referring to.

What to do?

——————————————

1 I would expect a button reading Create matrix or Create new matrix at this initial point. Maybe button text changes to Update matrix settings after a matrix has been initially saved?

Fair point!

What versions of TXP & adi_matrix are you using?
