Old Txp typeface

I know there was a thread or two on this back in the ice age, but keywords aren’t finding it. Anyone recall the typeface Dean used for the old Textpattern logo? Back when carver/chiseler dude ruled things? I could have swore there was download for it somewhere too.

Re: Old Txp typeface

In the old days, it was something similar to Engravers’ Gothic which you’ll find in ‘more or less kosher’ free font variants all over the place. Now it’s PT Serif.

Re: Old Txp typeface

It’s possibly Media Gothic – with a large amount of tracking applied to it.

Re: Old Txp typeface

Yes, the various Engravers’ Gothic, Sackers Gothic, Steelplate Gothic and so on are all derivatives of Copperplate Gothic. I hadn’t seen Media Gothic before but it seems very similar, perhaps a bit heavier. They all have some irregularities that give them a certain charm but the letter spacing is pretty wonky.

A similar but not identical alternative that I like and is softer and more even in its forms and spacing is Estilo though you have to hunt around for the right lower case glyphs.

Re: Old Txp typeface

Thanks, everyone. No motive here. I was just interested in remembering what the name of the typeface was.

Sackers Gothic

Bingo. Sackers was it. I remember that name now. And a search in the forum for Sackers seems to confirm, for example

Re: Old Txp typeface

FONT: Sackers Gothic . Lets bookmark it in case we need it in the future Sackers™ Gothic

And while we are at it does the original ‘Text Carver’ artwork exist somewhere?
For now there is a version available from here
