Re: [textpacks] Translating languages strings for Textpattern 4.7

Hi Phil,

I’ll be doing the Greek one but I’ve been flat out for a few months now. I hope that in February I’ll get a breather in which case i’ll be able to give it a few hours.

I started with the translations to Greek. It’ll take me some days. I’m still not sure how to translate “Themes”. I’m wondering how other CMSs translated them. Is there one any of you would recommend for me to install so as to check the translations?

Our friends over at WordPress use this format (extracts from Greek translation):

<string name="Installing_Theme___s">Εγκατάσταση θέματος: %s…</string>
<string name="Install_Themes">Εγκατάσταση θεμάτων</string>
<string name="Update_Themes">Ενημέρωση θεμάτων</string>

Speaking of Wordpress, this guide to Wordpress Themes in Greek might be useful.

Re: [textpacks] Translating languages strings for Textpattern 4.7

Follow-up: I used translate.wordpress.org/locale/el as my source for Greek above.

The WordPress 4.9 branch appears active: translate.wordpress.org/locale/el/default/wp/dev

From there, I chose the Administration project: translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp/dev/admin/el/default

…and then at the bottom of the page there’s an option to export, I chose XML for clarity, then open in your preferred text editor (I like Atom at the moment) and search for the keyword(s) you want.

θέμα means subject (as in the subject of the book). I guess that the point is to use words which are understandable across systems though so… thanks!!! :)

Re: [textpacks] Translating languages strings for Textpattern 4.7

Hi again – sorry, 3 more strings were added as part of the latest theme work. If you could all work your magic on the translations once more time that would be fabulous…

Re: [textpacks] Translating languages strings for Textpattern 4.7

Yep, you guessed it. 2 more strings need translating. I am fairly confident that no further strings will be added for Textpattern 4.7.0 after this as we are very close to beta now. So if you could do you magic translators one last time, we should be good to go!!

Re: [textpacks] Translating languages strings for Textpattern 4.7

We are hoping to get the 4.7 beta out by the end of today, all being well!! So just another ask for translators to mop up any missing strings in their chosen language – every translated string makes the beta better (we will of course continue to add translations to the core between beta and final if they are done).

Re: [textpacks] Translating languages strings for Textpattern 4.7

Hi. Another request to complete any missing translations during the beta phase. When we do beta 2 in a few days any extra translations will be added to the release.

There were 4 additional setup strings added for multi-site installs just prior to beta 1, so if you would be so kind as to translate those too that would be great!

Re: [textpacks] Translating languages strings for Textpattern 4.7

In prevision of the upcoming final 4.7 realease and in order to give a little time for translators, could you, please, give us some precisions about the xx_pophelp.xml file and what do you expect from us.

First of all, do we need to translate these nodes “group” and “item” (title too):

<help lang="fr">
    <group id="admin" title="Users panel">
        <item id="about_privileges" title="About roles">

?

Re: [textpacks] Translating languages strings for Textpattern 4.7

Hi Patrick,

I wasn’t aiming on getting pophelps translated for 4.7.0 – rather for 4.7.1 onwards. The helps have been in flux for a while so until we had definite entries I’ve held back from putting that onto Crowdin.

When ready, I will upload to Crowdin and provide further info.

Thanks for your patience on this!

Re: [textpacks] Translating languages strings for Textpattern 4.7

Hey all. Yep, you guessed it – some more stings were added ready for Textpattern 4.7 beta 3. Please check your chosen languages and if possible continue your amazing translation efforts. Some wordings were changed for better clarity in the user interface after beta tester feedback and also a couple of additional strings were added.

This makes no sense to me: Forms files deletion failed for: <strong>{$list}</strong>.
