Re: Forum updated
Ah, I didn’t know the MacOS (and yes, iOS too) scroll bar colour was contextual depending on body background. Will fix next update. Thanks.

Yes, the color of the scroll knob is a complex combination of an invert
filter, a saturate
filter (desaturate, actually), then an overlay
filter (if your resulting background is yellow, the scroll knob shows a hint of yellow).
The bottom line is, if the end result for the background on <body>
has a brightness value higher than 50% (the “b“ in hsb()
or the “l” ins hsl()
), then the scroll knob will show as darkish grey on a white background.

That is not an overlay scrollbar. What are your settings in System Preferences > General > Show scroll bars
? Additionally: do you have a (non-Apple) mouse connected?
Non-overlay scrollbars are fine, and never react to the background color of the page. But those live in their own little gutter, separated from the area where the page is actually painted.

Not sure what an overlay scrollbar is. In terms of Scroll bar settings i have:
Show scroll bars * Automatically based on Mouse or Trackpad
I use a third-party Dell mouse,

Based on your mouse, the OS decides to show non-overlay scrollbars. Overlay scrollbars float above the content and are invisible, except when scrolling (the scroll know appears; if you move the cursor to the right edge of the window, you can then “catch“ it, but with a Magic Mouse or Apple trackpad, there is no real need for that, just move your finger up/down).
You could try: change the setting to “when scrolling”. But I don‘t think it is a nice experience based on your mouse.

Re: Forum updated
OK, this scrollbar issue should be fixed now. Not a straightforward fix (needed some flexbox and another div wrapper) but done.

Re: Forum updated
Phil, I’m quite sure the FluxBB we’re using is unmodified. But in order to file a bug report with them: Can you confirm, please, there were no modifications made?

Sorry Uli, I’m not sure. Jukka did do some work on our forum registrations and spam prevention tools but I don’t know how any of that works. It’s in the repo if anyone wants to pick it apart – or maybe you can speak directly to Jukka?

Phil, I’ve answered you in the moderation forum because of technical internals.
