Asset or scrapheap?

Available for hire: one slightly worn PHP / Python / HTML 5 / CSS developer with a can-do attitude. Able to wield a jQuery knife, too.

Lively yet house trained, and fully versed in the responsive arena, he gets the job done with an inimitable flair for achieving the seemingly impossible. A keen wordsmith, he is a skilled communicator and writer. Also has passable prowess with Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects and is an excellent audio engineer with the keenest ear this side of Beethoven.

Has yet to master the ukulele, speaking about himself in the third person, and time travel.

Aww, thanks Gil. If you have any more crazy customisation projects drop in your lap and want a hand, feel free to drop me a line. The way you twist the admin side for your clients is beyond cool.

In the meantime, I’m off hunting for a new day job…

Be aware that they do use some nasty business tactics. They send marketing letters to people as you, they spam your contacts (if Navi was promoting Linkedin) and their registration screen is setup so that you give them access to read your Gmail account.

While the service may be great, the company behind it is somewhat rotten. Not intentionally, but probably more so because they are struggling.

Re: Asset or scrapheap?

An interesting blog post by security firm Bishop Fox on LinkedIn’s new product Intro is worth a read. LinkedIn’s practices are quite aggressive as Jukka points out.

Re: Asset or scrapheap?

Yeah, I can’t stand LinkedIn and tend to ignore it. Just got an account because I set it up years ago and made damn sure that there’s no link whatsoever to any of my important email addresses / accounts. I’m registered with a throw-away account. One-click sign-in with <insert name of service here> is the enemy.
