Editing pages stuck in HTML
I am very non-technical, but not a knucklehead generally, and new to this forum. In the last week or so when I try to edit pages for our website they come up as HTML, not the semi-rendered page with images and tool bar. My web hosts say it’s not them. I am lazy about software updates, not sure if that is it, and am on a Macbook. We are at a critical time of year, so help would be greatly appreciated.\
Thanks!
Chris

Re: Editing pages stuck in HTML
Sorry, is the problem on the admin side or on the public one? Is it really HTML you see, like
<div class="box"><p>This is <span>HTML</span></p></div>
or is it just unstyled content?

Re: Editing pages stuck in HTML
I checked with GreenGeeks who said it wasn’t their side. Not sure if that means Admin side. The editing pages look like this now:
<h1><em>Living Lightly</em><img class="right" src="/images/150.jpg" alt="Living Lightly Lotus" width="196" height="129" align="right" /></h1>
<h2>Meditation and Modern Buddhism<br /></h2>
<p><strong>Monday, Sept 17 7:00-8:30pm</strong><br />
it used to show up similar to the page, with any images, and with tool bar for header, paragraph etc.
Thanks!

Re: Editing pages stuck in HTML
Sorry, perhaps this is clearer; The page is still appearing similarly, but the section called ‘body’ only has HTML in it.

Re: Editing pages stuck in HTML
A quick googelation shows that your website’s (http://www.meditateinolympia.org/) public facing side is displaying quite OK.
So you might be talking about Textpattern’s admin side: Are you on the Write panel when you see the issue? Are there three upright tabs to the right side of the HTML section? If so: click the upper one, and you’re back in editing mode. If not please describe any further, make a screenshot, post a link, etc.

Re: Editing pages stuck in HTML
I am on the Write panel. The 3 tabs are not there, and I know the tabs you are talking about. I have to put it in on HTML tab when adding paypal buttons. I have a screen shot, but I don’t see how to post it here.

You need to upload it to an image hosting service like tinypic, imagebin, imageshack. Then post the link here that you get there.
My assumption probably won’t be right cause the HTML tab doesn’t behave sticky (i.e. the Write panel is usually back to normal text editing mode next time after closing it), but anyway: Have you or somebody with access to the Preferences panel switched admin side theme? There are themes that hide these upright tabs, and-who knows-maybe there’s an additional technical fault that leads to this sticky-tab behavior? Look under Preferences > Advanced > Admin-side theme. Both Classic and Remora themes show the upright tabs, Hive and Yellowaluminium (amongs others) hide them.

Re: Editing pages stuck in HTML
Thanks very much, by the way..
Here’s a screen shot link for forums
Nobody has changed anything in Admin
I’ve gone to Preferences > Advanced There is no ‘Admin-side theme’
I have a style section, however, and it says:
Style
Use raw editing mode by default? No Yes (we have YES, checked)
The help button says:
Preferences: Edit raw css by default
This selects the default method of editing css (presentation > style). If set to yes, you will see one large text-area with all the content of the css by default. If set to no, you will see the css-editor by default.
Should we check NO?

Re: Editing pages stuck in HTML
The link there, top left on the screenshot, “Toggle editor”, just click it.
You described it quite well, what you expected to see, BTW, now that I could have a look at the screenshot. It’s just that I didn’t see hak_tinymce in years (the plugin that integrates the WYSIWYG editor).

Re: Editing pages stuck in HTML
Thanks, sadly, that isn’t it. Yes, I believe we are using a relic. It works for us just fine…until now.
Is this relevant?:
Some Textpattern files have been modified:
/home/olympia/public_html/index.php,
/home/olympia/public_html/textpattern/lib/txplib_db.php ?
The following PHP functions (which may be necessary to run Textpattern) are disabled on your server: posix_getpwuid, posix_getpwnam
When GreenGeeks was in there yesterday checking for me they said:
I’ve changed version of php to 5.2.17 for your account.
It looks like your website didn’t work with php 5.3.
Here is diagnostics if it helps:

Re: Editing pages stuck in HTML
You could ask in the hak_tinymce topic whether your version of the plugin (see Admin > Plugins) is compatible with PHP 5.2.17. Add a link back here, there might be other important details in the diagnostics.
