hak_tinymce WYSIWYG article editor

This plugin adds a TinyMCE based WYSIWYG editor to Textpattern.

Current version

1.0.2.3

Installation

  1. Upload the included TinyMCE distribution to somewhere in your document root. The default location is in your /textpattern/ directory.
  2. Install the plugin included in hak_tinymce.txt and activate it. Installing plugins
  3. Go to Extensions -> hak_tinyme and run the installation.
  4. If you placed TinyMCE somewhere other then in /textpattern/ you can set the location now

Behavior

  • The editor will not come on by default on blank articles if “Use Textile” is selected in the Preferences. If you want to use the editor all the time change the default to “Leave text untouched”
  • If textile is turned on it will be disabled if you toggle the editor on. Conversely if you turn Textile back on it will turn off the editor.

Known issues

  • This plugin requires version 4.2.0 or higher.

This is an update of mic_tinymce, originally developed by Michele Campeotto.

A lot of the admin code was made possible by examining Mary’s plugins.

Re: hak_tinymce WYSIWYG article editor

Bah! Of course I got sick of waiting for 2.0, release the plugin and they release 2.0 today.

I’ll try to update it today or tomorrow.

Plugin Updated to Version 2.0 Final of TinyMCE.

Please note that the included TinyMCE folder is named slightly differently now.

Re: hak_tinymce WYSIWYG article editor

That’s so odd I can’t get it to do this on any of my machines. Same browsers you are using.

Any other plugins you might have running on the write tab? I know upm_img_popper caused some problems in the past with micampe’s original version.

It’s weird that it instanciates the editor but doesn’t let you edit in it. Any errors in the javascript console in Firefox?

Re: hak_tinymce WYSIWYG article editor

Just installed this and it works well…no thats not doing it justice its brill!

I know it’s gonna be in the comprehensive documentation but is it easy to disable/enable buttons and use my site css rather than the default one?

Re: hak_tinymce WYSIWYG article editor

Currently to add buttons or specify a stylesheet you have to edit the mceSettings variable in the plugin itself. The button rows are theme_advanced_buttons1 – 3 To add stylesheet you would need to add a content_css entry pointing to the stylesheet you want to use.

This is not ideal and I really want to come up with an interface of some sort to do this. I just didn’t want to delay putting this out until I came up with something.

If anyone has suggestions or thoughts on a configuration screen please bring them up.

Re: hak_tinymce WYSIWYG article editor

Well done on this hakjoon :)

I think tinymce itself is still a bit buggy though – I find that sometimes it sticks in the paragraph tags and sometimes it doesn’t. Havent’y been able to pinpoint what a circumstances are though.

Cheers
Nick.

Re: hak_tinymce WYSIWYG article editor

ok – narrowing down the problem…

for some reason the mdp_UpcomingEventList plugin interferes.

I turned it off, But there is still a javascript error. Now I get javascript error: line 12; char:392666; error: Access is Denied

Re: hak_tinymce WYSIWYG article editor

Are you getting the javascript error when you go to the write tab or only when you try to toggle the editor on? Any other write tab plugins running?

Re: hak_tinymce WYSIWYG article editor

I have turned all other plugins off for debugging. this is a fresh install of 4.0.2

I get the javascript error when I go to the write page (the toggle button isnt working either)

all the timymce incons show up, but I cannot click in the textarea.

if I click the toggle editor link, I get “line:12 char: 5264; “Error: ‘this.contentWindow.document’ is null or not an object”
