French translation, minor bug
note for the translator
Under Contenu > Rédiger, Date de publication
Publier « maintenant » should use non-breaking spaces (option-spacebar on OS X) inside the guillemets.
(I mean, this looks silly (screenshot); with non-breaking spaces I can have the word break nicely – yay hyphenation)
And ditto under Contenu > Fichiers, and perhaps other places where the guillemets occur.

Hi Philippe.
Could you test now: I added
between the two “guillemets”.

Re: French translation, minor bug
wouldn’t deleting the spaces after the opening and before the closing guillemets be better?

That is better, but only in Safari & Chrome (tested: OS X 10.7) [*]. Opera and Firefox however treat it as a line-breaking opportunity. I don’t remember offhand what IE 9 does with
. Fwiw, I’ve always used a non-breaking space (
or &160;
U+00A0) in those cases, this page (at the bottom) suggests exactly that, as does this page.

No, French typographical rules require a space after the opening “«” and before the closing “»”.

Re: French translation, minor bug
…
is smaller than
and a better choice regarding of typographic rules (in hight quality printed books), I think. if
doesn’t solve the problem, I’m not sure
could be better.

That’s not perfect, but maybe the solution ;)

alternate suggestion: #8239; (U+202F NARROW NO-BREAK SPACE). Here is a test case.
(textile in the forum makes a mess with that character if I add the ampersand)

But there is a slight problem – the space is displayed as #8239; instead of a space. The ampersand is missing in the source code.
