[request] Manipulate order of Sections and Categories by Drag&Drop
Hello Txp Community
As stm_article_order for sorting articles by sections, i would be able to change the order of sections and categories directly from the sections tab and categories tab.
I’m not a PHP/JS programmer, but I handle a little Jquery.
And as a demonstration is worth a thousand words, I captured with “Scrapbook” the section tab and categories tab. I was amused to customize the pages to modify the interface.
Section tab with collapsibles and Drag&Drop sort
Categories tab (only articles categories) with collapsibles and Drag&Drop sort
Is missing a button to save the position and probably other stuff.
What do you think ?
If this idea appeals to a programmer ?

Looks like a great idea & maybe you should suggest it for the new TXP5 admin.
In the meantime, the next item on my list for adi_menu is to attempt a drag & drop interface for ordering sections. Although, I can’t make any promises on when or if …

@jelle & JimJoe
Thanks, I am glad to interest of other users
@Gocom
I do not think textpattern should be imposed a javascript user interface but a super flexible html markup.
Maybe it would be nice txp5 improves the html markup (I do not like the use of “non-breaking spaces” to indent) to enable a ease development of Plug’ins for propose different interfaces depending on the needs :
- Separate lists of categories in the tabs to gain space.
- Choose the parent category at the same time to create a category
As I am not a developer, and I’m not ready to become one. The only thing I can do is offer my ideas to the community. It’s frustrating, but I participate.
