There are loads of tools that can diff two files and often two folders of files.
On OS X I use the diffing capabilities in BBEdit. On Windows I used to use a tool called BeyondCompare.

My diff tool of choice is WinMerge. I really like the comparing two directories feature — you just tell it what the ‘older’ folder is and what the ‘newer’ folder is, and it shows you all the differences (if there are any, and you can customize how differences get formatted).

Just upgraded my hacked g1.19 – all in all, it only took a few minutes (using Beyond Compare, mentioned above) and it’s all working great. The new article management features are great!
Hurrah for Dean!

Here’s a description of the issue, for anyone who’s interested.

Dean — and all contributors to 1.0RC1 — let me also add my thanks. I’m really looking forward to watching TXP develop and grow into an even finer beast.

Re: 1.0rc1 Released
Awesome. I’m now on my third Textpattern run site in less than three months. After searching high and low for a very customizable blog/cms with RSS feeds built in, textpattern is just what I needed. And now that RC1 is out, i’m more that happier. Nothing that I hate more than using a product and having development be expired / stifiled. Many thanks Dean – the new updates look great, and the auto-update is top drawer.
thanks,

Thanks Dean, and everyone else here on this forum.
I also prefer quality updates against quantity, and few features that work right and fast that a lot of features that give me headaches.

For what it’s worth, I upgraded my slightly-hacked version of Textpattern at Broken Window without a problem. All it took was a little hand-holding with Beyond Compare and I was good to go.
How am I supposed to enjoy this with you crying?

Re: 1.0rc1 Released
Since some people have run compare utils, what files have been altered in this release? Haven’t updated yet and have no chance of comparing myself until next week so ..
Plugins: ob1_advanced_search 1.032b, ob1_search_score 1.0, ob1_pagination 2.5, ob1_title 4.1, ob1_modified 2.1

That’s an easy question to answer (although I don’t have a list in front of me), but to be honest it’s pretty much meaningless. Without knowing exactly which lines have changed and how they correspond with your personal hacks, no one can offer you anything useful.
If you can’t diff until next week, you’d be better to hold on until then and then diff against whatever the current versions is at that point.
