rah_change_passwords

Rah_change_passwords is a tiny plugin that adds an ability to manually reset and change passwords for you and for your mates via a clean admin-side interface.

The main difference compared to Textpattern’s build-in password resetting feature is that users do not need to receive an email containing the new temporary password, and neither users need to do the resetting by themselves. Instead, one of the site’s publishers can reset any user’s password to anything they want.

Re: rah_change_passwords

Released version 0.2 of rah_change_passwords:

  • Added check against if password, user or confirmation password is empty.
  • Added option to not email the password.
  • Now checks that the database update was succesful before sending email.
  • Now by default the user dropdown has no user selected. Reduces the change of accidentally resetting Joe instead of John.
  • Updated the styling.

Re: rah_change_passwords

Wow. I always complained about the difficulty of managing passwords in a more efficient way.
The update made me discover the plugin, thanks.

Personally I would prefer to find the panel in the Administration/Authors section rather than in the Exensions/Change Passwords one, under the drop down menu where you can change the privileges. Just a note.

Re: rah_change_passwords

Ops I made a change before you read: it is more complicated/deprecated or unconvenient to modify the Administration panels adding some features? I tell you so because after installing the plugin I’ve searched for it there rather than in the Extension panel: I think that’s an improvement of a built in feature rather than a new one.

Re: rah_change_passwords

It is what it is, and because of the apparent security issues it causes, only Publishers will see the panel anyway. To me the most convenient place is the Extensions segment, which is ment for extensions. And On the “Admin” panel it would just add yet another form, 4th actually.

Re: rah_change_passwords

Version 0.4 is now out. 0.4’s main focus was on adding PHPass (r3488 and newer) support. I want to thank Robert, and rest of the dev team, for using PHPass and making passwords (finally) casesensitive.

Full changelog:

  • Added PHPass support while keeping compatibility with current TXP version.
  • Added option to reset user’s current session.
  • Remembers the field values if returned to the form because of an error.
  • Small wording and styling changes.

Re: rah_change_passwords

Version 0.5 was released couple days ago (how do I forget to update these things, geez I’m getting old). Changes in the newest release:

  • Added: Disabled password autocompletion by adding autocomplete=“off” to the form.
  • Added: The interface now has language string support.
  • Changed: Now only accepts requests sent as POST. GETs are ignored by the password changer.

Re: rah_change_passwords

Released version 0.6. Changes:

  • Fixed: Changed “Yes” and “No” to language strings.
  • Added: Now takes advantage of CSRF protection introduced in Textpattern v4.4.1.
  • Dropped backwards compatibility layer used from v0.4 to 0.5. Users using older Textpattern version can still keep using older versions of rah_change_passwords.
  • Now requires Textpattern version 4.4.1 or newer.
