Destry,

I got a question on TextBook’s recent changes feeds:

I’m using: <pre>http://textpattern.net/wiki/index.php?title=Special:Recentchanges&feed=rss</pre>

I tried: <pre>http://textpattern.net/wiki/index.php?title=Special:Recentchanges&days=14&feed=rss</pre>

But the feed just defaults to the last 7 days, it ignores the days=14 parameter.

I’ll look into it. I was also noticing that the excerpts for the New Pages feed are pretty useless…they all just spit out the breadcrumb links. We need to get down past that to the “Overview” that most pages should have. Even better would be to skip the breadcrumbs altogether, but I’m not sure that’s possible.

Has Textism been shut down, I was grabbing it’s feeds on the Textpattern Planet site.

Also, when Texpattern Resources, TextGarden and TXP Magazine move to 4.0.4, please let me know so I can use dates in your feeds.

I’ve no idea. Is it completely broken? I know Dean hasn’t updated it in a while, but I don’t get any errors in my feed reader.

Now that 4.0.4 is official, there are some sites where I don’t have a date for their feed items:

Textpattern Resources
TextGarden
TXP Magazine
Textism

If and when these sites are updated to the new RSS 2.0 feed, please let me know, thanks.

You should drop Textism.

Gasp…I know I know. It’s Dean Allen’s blog and all. But he’s blogging over at Joyeur and completely invested in Joyent, now.

I removed Textism and increased the SVN timeline to include all 10 of it’s items.

What’s in a name?

Textpattern Planet was renamed to Textpattern CMS Planet, in line with the official naming of the project. Don’t quite remember when I started seeing Textpattern CMS on the official sites, just snuck up on me.

On the planet site, I shuffled things around, moving active sites further up the page. I removed TXPMag from the feeds, I hope Alex finds someone to take it over and I’ll gladly add it back.

The bottom of the page has hyperlinks all related to Texpattern CMS, please post a message on this thread is you come across another link. I removed Textism, Dean seems to be twittering these days and his site has suffered the consequences.

Textpattern CMS, “is it a blog or CMS?”, “dude can’t you read?”, “oh yeah” ;)

Have been catching up on things, took some time off from the forum.

While maintaining Textpattern CMS Planet, I get to see the activity of the project from afar.

Made the following changes:

Updated to SimplePie 1.1.3, on this and all my other sites that use this excellent RSS library. The Textpattern plugin has been updated with some new features.
Removed the TextBook feeds, they are huge and activity seems to have slowed. I can’t seem to get the Recent Changes feed to give me 30 days of activity, so the heading would appear with nothing underneath.
In it’s place I’ve put developer personal site feeds from wet and Bloke, artagesw doesn’t seem to have an active personal site.
I created a section called Contributions, user sites that contribute to the TxP world.
- thebombsite – themes, on a tear lately.
- Gocom – plugins, taking it to another level.
- TXP Builders – custom work.

I remember reading the announcement about TXP Builders, had a time finding the correct URL on the web, which is why I figure it’s a good idea to help these contributors up in the Google search rankings. Should anyone have anybody else I should link to, please let me know.

There’s talk of bringing back TXP Magazine and TXPQ, wish whoever takes on the task good luck.

On a side note, Twitter and Facebook seems to have taken people away from posting to their own sites. How can we promote the usage of projects like Textpattern, when most activity is happening on services? I truly enjoy visiting people’s sites and seeing the little tweaks they make and the posts they write. May we all return to our personal sites one day, they are wanting.

Yeah, I’ve never gotten around to setting up and maintaining a personal site or blog, mostly due to the enormous time commitment required. With that in mind, I have just begun a twitter account. if anyone is interested: @artagesw

Added Textbook feeds back to TxPlanet, but I still can’t get a full 30 days feed.

I’m using this url: http://textpattern.net/wiki/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&days=30&hideminor=0

Right now, I’m getting changes back to November 24, which gives me the last 7 changes. No matter what I try, I can’t seem to go back any further.

Has anybody ever fed from the Wiki and gotten more than what seems like 7 days back?

Edit: I think I’ve mentioned this before but Alex King created a nicer RSS feed for the PunBB forum a while back. Might want to give a try, if you do, please let me know and I’ll update TxPlanet.
