Embed code for YouTube flicks at (almost) any size

YouTube offers prefab code to embed a video in your own pages at a selection of discrete widths (480, 640, 960px).

Too bad if those do not fit your site’s column widths – it costs you a trip to the desktop calculator or any other linear equation solver to calculate correct custom height and width values.

I couldn’t stand this any longer, so I built myself a tiny tool: Tube Fittings to the rescue.

Enjoy.

Pretty cool I must say :-) Thank you for sharing the tool, Robert.

Like one of those things zombies crave for? Never knew it could calculate, but I bet it tastes delicious to zombies.

So you are indicating that Math-powered zombies do exist in .fi, and they live off their daily dose of y = kx + d?

I do remember turning into zombie during math classes and drooling over the math books and calculator. Umm, does that mean zombies are math-powered, or is that just consequence from listening a monotone voice for two hours?

Nice idea. Perhaps I should add this method into arc_youtube so that people can specify a width and ratio rather than having to, as you say, take a trip to the desktop calculator to figure out the corresponding height.

Very useful !

Better than firing up a graphics program and drawing rectangles !
