Does anyone want the css editor for dummies to stay?
One of my customers was learned to change the background-color of site using field in css editor :) But i’m sure i can re-learn her to use css or move this line to form. So, I’m not againt removal of this tool – i never used it – it eats my comments in css :)
Providing help in hacking ATM! Come to courses and don’t forget to bring us notebook and hammer! What for notebook? What a kind of hacker you are without notebok?

I guess that once the particular editor departs (I know I am making assumptions here:), there’ll be a plugin (or plugin requests) for cases like yours:)

It removes /* and */ type comments which is not too bad if they are just comments but if you are using something like the “clearfix” styling which requires that certain lines be hidden from Macs you will find it is completely fcuk’d.
And yes, I do want the raw CSS editing retained. I don’t have any use for an external CSS editor or pretty colours or any other styling aid. I am better than any styling aid. I’ve been at this stuff for years so why waste useful RAM by having 2 or more applications open to do a single task? Of course I do realise that these aids are useful whilst you are learning but after that they are a total waste of space. Just my personal opinion you understand. ;)
And should there be anyone out there who does like and use the CSS Editor it could remain as an either/or choice in Preferences but remove the option to change from the Styles tab.

I have Martin, indeed I’ve probably tried them all over the years, my favourite being HTMLPad which requires purchasing, but I use that for other code types and for CSS for applications that don’t have Textpattern’s wonderful facilities. I haven’t used a CSS editor with Textpattern in absolutely ages.

Fair enough.
I’ve tried quite a few myself, but I really appreciate CSSEdit’s features. I’ve made plenty of small syntax mistakes hand-coding CSS in the past, and enjoy the added layer of safety.
But as you say, it’s all individual.

All these CSS editors fail to manage the mountain of bugs of Internet Explorer ;-)), so none of them is more useful than a second …
