Re: Support multiple sites (r3189)

I have created a new simpler installation script and pre-built site template that works with 4.0.9 (and svn 3208 and later). I have submitted it to the devs for inclusion in 4.0.9. Basically, I propose that a new “sites” directory be added to the root of the standard Textpattern distribution. The sites directory will come pre-populated with a site template that works out of the box, and which can simply be duplicated to create additional sites.

Re: Support multiple sites (r3189)

I would be happy to test multiple sites from a single install, but as I’m on a shared hosting, I have no possibilities to create symlinks etc.

Actually, I have :

  • mysite.be = school main site.

and

  • mysite.be/cta
  • mysite.be/1d
  • mysite.be/ctnnl
  • mysite.be/project4
  • mysite.be/…

= a few TXP installations to drive many school projects.

Each project is driven by a private owner, and must have his own txp admin.

It would be fine to allow this with one txp install.

Is it possible with a shared hosting ?

+1 for simplicity. This would be an awesome way to have multiple installs ootb

If you would like to see this happen in 4.09, please let wet know. He has expressed concern that the additional directory might cause confusion for users of single-site installations.

Sam, is it possible to get your script as an additionnal install script, to run after the standard txp install ?
Or your script need to be included in the core files ???

I join the chorus. I wouldn’t use it on most sites, but I’d use it on many!

Count me in too. I’m already a TXP lifer but this would improve several of my sites immediately.

Re: Support multiple sites (r3189)

What is the word on the progression of this? From what I can gather, it’s been suggested but not actually implemented into TXP. I’m running the very latest SVN dev on my site and I can’t see any changes that would allow such features that are being explained here, unless I’m missing something :/
