Re: Who wants to take over txp-templates.com?

I’ve posted there. I’m a bit worried because there hasn’t been any activity there in awhile.

There’s activity, the plugin keeps getting downloaded and the script kiddies keep trying to hack in ;)

Sorry I took a break from adding templates, but I decided to wait until we had a consensus. No need in having everybody doing templates using different methods, it’s just confusing to the users.

I await Wet’s ideas.

/* sticks head in door and glances around */

This looks promising.

Well, one reason for my interest in the site in question is to learn how themes could work. mapu has built his templates around mcw_templates, so I think it won’t be a long step towards hgc_templates.

Had any time to think this out?

Yes. Mike West has abandoned his interest in Textpattern, so the choice is obvious. In different news, I still didn’t find the energy to actually work on a template. But it is an itch I definitely want to scratch.

Before I embarked on hcg_templates, I tried getting hold of Mike to tell him of my ideas for the plugin, but he never responded.

As for the plugin, it’s a means to an end. I don’t really care if it’s Mike West, Bert Garcia or Michael Manfre that we all rally around. But until there’s an official announcement, a direction statement by the core devs, we’ll be forever forking around.

Please look over my findings in the Theme mechanism for TxP 4.0.X thread, in it I kept a diary of sorts while I worked on a scheme. You’ll find that there needs to be small core changes done if any seamless mechanism is put into place, no plugin developer can do it alone.

Thanks for your time, and I hope that your itch is not of the seven year variety ;)
