Complex site dev question
Hi,
I’m getting ready to create a new web site with TXP, this time its very complicated for me to find a way how to do it. So I’ll post few of mine problems with features that need to be implemented. Just tell me what plugin I need to use, and a pointer on what to give more detail approach.
Features
1. Two language site (English and Serbian);
2. Writing area for absolute internet noobs with ability to add photos with articles, but it has to be idiot proof.
Is there help for this?

2 – there is Steve’s lam_image_uploader v0.6c which allows you to upload images from the “Write” tab as well as assign them to the article, add captions etc. etc.

Re: Complex site dev question
For 1, definitely MLP
For 2, I’d recommend 3 plugins:
- rah_textile_bar for quick formatting
- lam_image_uploader for uploading images quickly from the write page
- jmd_img_selector for selecting uploaded images

Re: Complex site dev question
All the above plus – for the writing area – you can also try hak_tinymce if you want a more WYSIWYG oriented editor

Thank you thebombsite, kemie and redbot.
I dont know should I let them to have WYSIWYG editor, they could make a circus show out of a web site in one two.

You are right, but you can customize the tinymce interface eliminating everything potencially “dangerous” like font color, underline, center align and so on

Re: Complex site dev question
I have one other question about links in the site.
It’s a must to have an intro page. So I was thinking to create a .htaccess rule that will open intro.htm and than links would go to www.site.com/en and www.site.com/sr .
If anyone knows a better solution for this, I’d love to hear.

Re: Complex site dev question
What I do is create a section ‘intro’ for the front page article, and set only that section to display on the front page. That way each language has it’s own intro page.

Sorry guys, its me again.
Im having problems with jmd_img_selector, maybe its Dedlins conspiracy because I still owe him 30 bucks. :) I will pay I swear.
Ok. The error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘(‘, expecting ‘}’ in /home/sds/public_html/v2/textpattern/lib/txplib_misc.php(574) : eval()’d code on line 284
The above errors were caused by the plugin:jmd_img_selector
- rah_textile_bar for quick formatting
- lam_image_uploader for uploading images quickly from the write page
