Re: Waters Winery
Clean and sharp yum-yum. Two things though caught my attention:
- The compression on the menuimages. Sure I’m abit pickey in this matter and it will increase loadtime but most people are on broadband these days so I’d go without compression or a different format.
- Since the menubar and footer fades into black towards the white of the contents a small fade in the contents part would be nice, or a line that cuts between the fade to black and the white. Maybe that dotted line that you use on the other elements would cut it.

Re: Waters Winery
Thanks OB1.
- I may get around to updating those menu items, they kinda bothered me too.
- not sure what you mean here but it sounds good.

Re: Waters Winery
Let’s see if I can re-write it in a better manner.
In the areas with content other then the front page, for instance wines you have the header with the menu and logo and in the background image you have a fade on the bottom part to “black”/“darker”. Then you have the contents area with the white background after it, thus creating the effect that the background of the menu and footer go behind the white background of the contents. But, IMHO it always looks awkward doing this against white without creating some kind of “delimiter”, “line” or fade (since you can’t highlight white).
Not the best examples but still hopefully proves my point
Note that the examples uses .png with transparency so if your browser don’t support it, upgrade to one that does (or make your own images! ;).
Also note that I’m “abit” tired and should probably catch some Z’s instead of writing in forums.

Re: Waters Winery
Great Job. :)
One item you may want to take a look at, I am not sure if it is just my system, bu the People’s section is acting qwerky. Sometimes when I view a profile everything looks right, but other times the content of the profile is running straight down in one long left column. Not sure why, but I can definitely recreate it every time.
I am using IE7.

Re: Waters Winery
so here’s an issue with this page
In the sidebar, if the people section is open and you mouse over “Winemaking”, it will collapse the “people” section. Overall I love the design, but I’m not the biggest fan of the mouseover collapse/expand. Most visitors would be used to the click to open/close the areas. Also, some of the sidebar items take you to another page if click on them, and some don’t. It’d be nice to get some consistent behavior.
Great work!

Re: Waters Winery
Mr Dale,
Well done. The font that writes The Winegrowers Sustainable Trust on http://waterswinery.com/vineyards/vinea in particular caught my eye. Can you share what font that is?
The wax seal in the footer is a nice touch, too.
Thanks!
