Re: Textpattern Pro and Bannister ?
Might be a good idea to give an expanded explanation to prevent negative views.
Why would them keeping quiet about things promote negative views?

Re: Textpattern Pro and Bannister ?
Well, whatever happens, I’m excited by the news and wish all the best to the crew. If it opens up more options for those deploying TXP in custom ways, I, for one, can’t wait.
Whatever the pricing plan turns out to be, it is only fair that the developing team can have a chance to earn from their hard work when many on this forum having been doing so for some time.

I can’t wait for it either. If it suits my site, I may use it.

Re: Textpattern Pro and Bannister ?
In the interests of eliminating inaccurate speculation and rumours, here are a few things I can say with reasonable certainty:
1. Open source Textpattern is not going away.
2. Textpattern Pro will not be free-as-in-beer. It will use the open-source Textpattern distribution as its core; plus extra stuff, available only to paying customers.
3. Textpattern Pro is not just a piece of software; it includes services as well.
4. Bannister is not part of Textpattern Pro, nor is it distributed as a stand-alone product. It’s available only as part of web applications and custom sites we build for clients. There are no specific plans to change that as yet.

Re: Textpattern Pro and Bannister ?
bannister was zem’s idea and he has since left textpattern to work for automattic/wordpress. so, i dont think it exists anymore. (though anyone having more definitive info are welcome to chime in). he obviously contributed a ton of work into txp, just seemed kinda odd that he just up and left the forum without saying anything really.

Alex (zem) made an announcement on his weblog, and the remaining developers announced his departure here on the forum. You must’ve missed it.
