Deprecated?

Has <txp:if_individual_article /> been deprecated?

Re: Deprecated?

Well it doesn’t seem to be that as I’ve swapped the code block around and I’m still getting the notice so here is the full block that I’m having a problem with:-

<txp:sitename /> &raquo;
<txp:if_individual_article>
    <txp:if_section name="default">
        Home Page
    <txp:else />
        <txp:section title=1 />
    </txp:if_section>
    &raquo;
    <txp:title />
    <txp:if_section name="article">
        &raquo;
        <txp:posted />
    </txp:if_section>
<txp:else />
    <txp:if_section name="default">
        Home Page
    <txp:else />
        <txp:section title=1 />
    </txp:if_section>
    <txp:if_category>
        &raquo;
        <txp:category title=1 />
        category listing.
    </txp:if_category>
</txp:if_individual_article>

Re: Deprecated?

^^ I’ve made it a bit more readable. Can you explain what this gives you and what you instead expect it to do?

Re: Deprecated?

Oh that looks nicer Ruud. :)

I use this code block twice, once inside the <title> tag in the <head> and once inside an invisible h1 tag at the top of my page. The h1 tag is inside a form template which also includes the “accessibility” code. Basically the <title> tag just shows you where you are in your browser page tab or at the top of your browser if you aren’t in a tab. The h1 does the same but is more for SEO as it is invisible.

Because my site is in “Live” mode I only see the notices on the error404 page.

I get two notices.

To try and find what was causing the notices I started by taking the first “output_form” tag, which is the “invisible” form, out of the error page template and I then only received one notice. So I then removed the h1 block from the form and put the call back into the page template. Still only one notice.

Then I removed the block from the <title> tag and low and behold, no notices.

So it is this block that is causing the problem and I can’t figure out why. :(

Of course this has only been happening since I updated to r2647.

Re: Deprecated?

Thanks Ruud. That cured it. :)

Is this a recent change then?

<edit> Just thinking about it, it might be useful to have a “closed” post somewhere, that only you guys and gals can modify, listing deprecated tags and attributes along with the revision number they were deprecated in just as a quick reference for us plebs. ;)

Re: Deprecated?

Good idea, but I’d rather see that in Textbook than in the forum, because that’s where most people look (or should look) for information about tags.

txp:sitename was never a tag, so TXP defaulted to using the internal variable with the same name.

Re: Deprecated?

Never a true tag eh? Good job TXP is intelligent then. :)

As for your point about Textbook – the only problem with that is that Textbook won’t be updated until the next “public” release whilst I am using up-to-date revisions which makes it useless for me. Not that I am suggesting that Textbook is useless in general – far from it! – excellent resource – but it doesn’t cover this eventuality as it always lags behind a bit.

Re: Deprecated?

Things like that get told in upgrade releases. You’re simply living the reality of using SVN for a live site.

Re: Deprecated?

Oh I see. Reality it is then. Thank you Mary. :)

Actually this doesn’t happen too often as I see new tags, attributes etc in the SVN thread but checking on this one it does seem to have gone through a tortuous route both in introducing the new tag and the deprecated notice that throws it up.

Re: Deprecated?

So calls through <txp:VAR_NAME /> is in the upcoming release not valid? (Ex: <txp:s /> for sectionname).
