What is current development situation with ob1_advanced_search? Does it work with 4.0.3? Will it work with 4.0.3?

Or is it waiting future 4.1 releases?

This plugin hasn’t worked for quite a while. And it seems like it is dead in the water.

I just discovered this lovely plugin, but as I can see, it will not work with 4.0.3

Are there any other plugins for better search?

I’m running a +1.500 post blog. The search isn’t very comfortable, I cannot find the articles I’m searching for through the search. e.g. the date rage option would be a great help, even for the txp out of the box search.

Has anyone email Henrik? He is usaully really good about updating his plugins. He may not know there is intrest still. Or he may have looked at the code up against all the changes in the txp core and found it to daunting. I don’t know of any other plugins remotely like this. And this one did work great.

O hoy good mates!
(I used o hoy because of the dead in the water remark above)

I am currently on vacation at home and for the first time in a gazillion years I actually feel like I got some PHP/TXP code to dish out. As you might have noticed I’ve updated my smaller plug ins today and before I start on ob1_googlenav this big old dragon of mine needs to be fixed so it works (since there are features of the googlenav that are specific for this plug in).

So have no fear, I’ll start digging tomorrow (it’s currently 5:30am so spare me some sleep please) and darn it, this time I won’t stop until I hit the core. Whatever it might bring.

Progress update

I’ve done most of the coding except for the actual searching that, hopefully, won’t take that long. Some tweaking of features ofcourse needs to be done.

My estimate is that I’ll have a beta release version sometime this weekend.

And thanks for the moral support The-Exit. Always appriciated.

Excerpt: Not currently but can easily be added.

If you mean the standard body field then ofcourse, otherwise define what you mean by body fields.
It can currently also search custom fields and future versions will probably add searching keywords to it as-well.

Well, I split my articles in two parts. One is in the excerpt-field and the other is in the default/standard body-field. So, it would be really a good feature to have the aibility to include the excerpt-content :)

Then I don’t see a problem if I just add excerpt search since body is allready included. Added on my TODO list.

Henrik, if you use MATCH for your search, then you’ll have to add a new search index to the textpattern table, because by default it only includes the title and body.

Allready taken care of. The plugin will have a setup parameter that will check that everything that it needs are available or exists.

So yes, I’m using MATCH.

Finally, finally, finally I say.

I release a beta version for testing purposes. I ofcourse hope that it won’t produce any bugs but before people have tested it some, it’s an official beta. See the first post for links.

It should ofcourse be no problem using it on a live site but I put up a finger-of-warning™ just for show.

Happy testing/using.

And as always, bugreports and feature requests are welcome.

Do not use this with the current ob1_googlenav version out there. Wait for the next release which is in the pipe.

First bug found (why didn’t I find this one before the release I wonder)

If you don’t have any %select_words_how% chosen (which results in the wh in the GET string) it will produce errors in debug mode. I will ofcourse look into it. It still works but …

Temporarily fixed in the 1.01b version. Will get a better fix in the next release.
