Hit by Spammer
Heya, I’m getting hit by a spammer every few hours. He’s been at it for the past three or four days. The odd thing is that:
1. The attacker got around the textpattern preview/submit commenting…but it’s automated.
2. The attack is always coming from the same IP: 195.225.177.35
So….after I noticed it the first time, it hasn’t worked because I banned his IP, but it’s still strange all around. Not the usual script kiddie trying to upload a php file disguised as a txt file that I usually see….
Is anyone else getting hit by this lady?

You may want to contact zem or some other core dev (off-board) and provide them with excerpts from your server access log.

nah, I don’t think there’s anything there for the core.
Everything in TXP is functioning as it should be.
In my logs I see the preview page load in, then I see the spammy post view load in. Comments are working properly.

The hit rate was from one IP and was on about 250 pages nearly simultaneously.

did you try mrw_spamkeywords_urlcount . Sencer has also provided a very useful mod for it

yes, I have mrw_spamkeywords_urlcount installed right now. Also, because the attacks were coming at such regular intervals and were all from the same IP I just redirected all from traffic to my site from that IP off into oblivion:

I have been getting hit a good bit recently as well. At first, they were not getting through but over the last two days, several comments have made it through into moderation for me to approve. They have been at it for about 3 weeks from what I can tell, and they are just now finally getting through.
I need to look into a plugin that will help prevent this I suppose, since now it seems to be getting worse.
