Re: Widescreen, a photoblog template
Jason —
Looks like you’re on the right track though. Thanks for posting that CSS.
Kungfujen —
Your site looks good. Not quite sure what’s wrong with comments and footer. Did you double-check that they’re named exactly right and set to the right types: article vs. misc?
And you’re right — those alt attributes are wrong — I can’t believe I’ve never noticed this! Thanks!

Re: Widescreen, a photoblog template
Thanks James. This is the precondition text that shows when I try to add the footer form (as a ‘misc’ type):
“Precondition Failed
The precondition on the request for the URL /blog/textpattern/index.php evaluated to false.”
I might have a poke around some other more general textpatter forums and see if I get anywhere with that one, unless anyone here has any ideas?
No probs re: the alt attributes! :)

Re: Widescreen, a photoblog template
Any way to get a drop down box with the tags, as I have so many tags that it is hard to navigate through them : -)

Re: Widescreen, a photoblog template
Sorry shanghai, it looks like the tru_tags plugin doesn’t make that possible. Maybe contact the developer?

Re: Widescreen, a photoblog template
Hi James,
At my website (www.geerink.com) the horizontal scrollbar appears (1280 × 800). How can I remove that bar?
Thanks in advance,
Boudewijn

Re: Widescreen, a photoblog template
boudewijn, I think the horizontal bar thing is a result of the frame you’re using. The vertical scrollbar is caused by a large bottom padding setting, which is there there so the comment box can always be revealed by scrolling.

To all Spanish-speaking photobloggers,
Antonio Vázquez has generously translated the template files into Spanish. Please download version 1.0 – ESP if you’re interested!

Re: Widescreen, a photoblog template
Hello!
First I have to say the template is gorgeous! We’ve just installed it, but still have some problems.
It’s here: http://head-foto.wz.cz/
First, there are always displaying errors on the top and I do not know how to fix it, and second, when you click on the photo, it should leave you to the previous one – but it doesn’t, it says the page doesn’t exist.
Anyone know how to fix it?
Thank you very much!

Hi Charlotte,
I’m afraid I’m stumped. Have you installed Textpattern successfully before? Did you double-check that clean URLs are turned on and you’ve activated the tru_tags plugin (so it says “yes” next to it in the plugins list)?

Re: Widescreen, a photoblog template
Hello,
I’ve installed widescreen, but am having trouble with the about section. I have created 3 articles and assigned them to the about section. However, when I click on the link for about/contact/purchase, it shows me only the most recent one, and it shows up in the left section where one would write a caption for an image. I am not getting the list of links to the articles for this section, and the body is not appearing where it should. I’ve read through the whole forum, but have not yet seen the answer to this or anyone else even having the same problem.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Brief update:
Accidentally forgot to have this page using the about page. Now I have 1 link on the page for the about section, but the other two links are not showing up.
Update:
It was the time stamp on the about article. Everything is working fine. Thanks for a great template!

Re: Widescreen, a photoblog template
Hi ib —
That sounds weird. First, make sure one of those articles is titled “about” and it has the most recent post date (I apparently forgot to put that in the readme).
If that doesn’t fix things, can you post a link to your site so I can see what’s happening? Thanks!

Re: Widescreen, a photoblog template
Fair enough, that’s something to change if possible (not sure how I’d do it though, given that everything relies on image IDs).
But what are you looking to upload? GIFs are not ideal for photographs, and while PNGs are in theory the successor to JPGs, in practice they have inconsistent browser support and wonky color profile issues.

Re: Widescreen, a photoblog template
James:
I want integrate a thumbnail (showing the last pic) from my photoblog to my blog.
How can i do this?
Ps.
In your DO-TO List:
RSS feed includes title and caption, but not the image itself (due to the use of a custom field).
I use Feedburner to manage my feeds and i can see thumbnails here (and works fine)
I put in the Excerpt (down full article body ) for this:
<img src=“http://yourphotoblog.com/images/ID-Image+t.jpg” alt=“Title or whatever you want” border=“0” style=“0px 5px 5px 0px; float:left” />
—-And the content——
The images description . .

Re: Widescreen, a photoblog template
Hi Kuro,
Thanks for the tip about Feedburner. I should also point out that the latest version of the tru_tags plugin allows you to customize the RSS feed, and therefore include images that are posted with Widescreen. I’ll get that all set up in the next version of Widescreen, whenever that happens….
As for your question, I’m not sure. It looks like you’re using two installations of textpattern: one for the blog, and one for the photoblog. Since there’s no obvious way to get them to talk to each other, I think you’d have to use the RSS feed of the photoblog to syndicate the latest article and publish it to your blog. Check out Feed Digest for turning an RSS feed into embedded HTML.
