there was a problem saving image data
I have been getting this and a series of other similar error messages every time i try to replace or upload new images. I’d check the DB and fix the table but I am unsure of what or how to do this. This error occured after I migrated to a new server. All help will be greatly appreciated
I checked past forums and foudn the following thread
http://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?id=17603
Below are my diagnostics

Re: there was a problem saving image data
I’ve had the same issues, using phpMyAdmin on my local server to save the database and then uploading it to my VPS. It seemed to ignore the auto_increment fields, I made sure it was checked and I specified the target database.
Check your other files, they may need to be changed also since auto_increment is used often.

Re: there was a problem saving image data
i just tried chaning exisitng image and got an error stating need to chmod to 777 so I chmod to 777 then i tried again and then recieved a php error stating <code>
Warning: chmod(): Operation not permitted in /home/jwhitedo/public_html/c2h/textpattern/include/txp_image.php on line 412</code>. So i changed the file from 0755 to 0777 and still the error persisted

Re: there was a problem saving image data
Can you tell us the user+group and permissions for both the image file and the directory that file is in?
And is it possible to create new images without problems?

Re: there was a problem saving image data
Okay, let me make sure I understand: your images folder – as entered in your advanced prefs – is chmoded to 777, right?

Re: there was a problem saving image data
User is admin with all rights
yes the image folder is written to 777 and the images in folder are chmoded to 755
I can add new images with no problem but i cant change existing images
it was the image file i tried changing to 777 after i did that I got the php error

Re: there was a problem saving image data
Take a look at the owner.group of the new images you add, then with your FTP program change the images you migrated over to be the same.

Re: there was a problem saving image data
i just compared the new image properties to the old image properties. The new images are set to 777 and the old are set to 755, but when i change the old to 777 to match the new images I get this error Warning: chmod(): Operation not permitted in /home/jwhitedo/public_html/c2h/textpattern/include/txp_image.php on line 412

Re: there was a problem saving image data
Could be a number of things – filesystem permissions, mount options, PHP config, ACLs. But the gist of the error message is accurate: the operating system says Textpattern (or the PHP process or the Apache process) doesn’t have permission to use chmod on that file.
Regardless, the chmod warning is incidental. If images are working and visisble, there’s no need to worry about it.

Re: there was a problem saving image data
i am having a similar problem described (yet not answered) in this thread: http://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?id=18300
my image folder has permissions 777, the images have 757 (not 755, but this was autogenerated from textpattern…), though, and one image in question (id=1 / the replacement for the original divider.gif) does not show up in the admins image list anymore.
if i include the image in an article like
<code><txp:image id=“1” /></code>
or
<code><txp:image id=1 /></code>
i get an error in Production Status “testing” which looks like this:
<code>tag_error <txp:notice message=“malformed image tag” /> -> Textpattern Warning: unknown_tag</code>
all other images display well, don’t produce errors and they show up in the images list in the admin section.
sorry to mix this issue up again, but actually it seems, that there’s quirks, which render already uploaded images useless, when replacing them with the textpattern supplied method (in my case via <code>http://txp.kliklak.net/textpattern/index.php?event=image&step=image_edit&id=1</code>
when i go to this link i get an individual image editing page incl. the backend navigation, but no other content displayed other than the goto pulldown menu, the textpattern logo below, and below
Textpattern · 4.0.3
Logged in as myAdminName
Logout
weird.
…
the displayed error message on the frontend then seems to indicate, that the problem is to be found elsewhere, but not in the permissions (anymore).
uhm, any ideas?
i think WhiteDog’s and my issue are mutual at least.
