Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ied_hide_in_admin version 0.1.: Hide Fields in Admin

Jakob, there’s a list of JavaScript strings each of which point to a DOM element to be hidden.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ied_hide_in_admin version 0.1.: Hide Fields in Admin

Hi Inspired,

I get some errors upon installation of the plugin:

<pre>Notice: Undefined variable: out_customs in /home/virtual/site267/fst/var/www/html/textpattern/lib/txplib_misc.php(455) : eval()’d code on line 187

Warning: implode(): Bad arguments. in /home/virtual/site267/fst/var/www/html/textpattern/lib/txplib_misc.php(455) : eval()’d code on line 187</pre>

I can see all the plugin options but it doesn’t seem to save my selection.

I’m running the latest version of TXP – the plugin worked on one installation but not on another.

Any ideas?

ah, yeah, that happened when you had no custom fields – resolved.

0.1.4 – fixes the issue

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ied_hide_in_admin version 0.1.: Hide Fields in Admin

Hi Inspired,

thanks for your quick response!

Error messages have gone however:

  • When I click to hide something nothing happens when i refresh (like hiding the expert etc)
  • Seems like some things that I’ve switched off wont come back on again – even though the checkbox is ticked.

warmbeat, please get the 0.1.5 and tell me if there are still any issues – it just needed a little more fixing.
Thanks.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ied_hide_in_admin version 0.1.: Hide Fields in Admin

hi yura,

is it possible that in IE5 (macOS 9) the plugin page empties irreversibly if i install hide_in_admin? (and: yes, i’m logged in as an editor;) i put back all the checkmarks where they were initially in case there might be some to influence the plugins panel. but it even stayed hidden after deleting hide_in_admin. this is why i began doubting my suspicion.

but i’m lucky enough to have several browsers for testing and mozilla is’nt that critical at that point, so i can plug in and out there.
but from my side (and speaking for my clients) another big thank you for this plugin!

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ied_hide_in_admin version 0.1.: Hide Fields in Admin

irreversibly? even if you delete hide_in_admin? not possible, since it’s the plugin that contains javascript snippets that then come up on the pages it affects, those javascript snippets make the fields invisible (sic!) – that is nothing is really deleted. Then if you uninstall the plugin, there’s no way for the javascript snippets to appear on the pages.

One thought – can it be cache?
In any case, let me know.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ied_hide_in_admin version 0.1.: Hide Fields in Admin

yura, you’re right, i should remeber to keep the cache in mind! but for other reasons ;)

no, it’s not the cache. the tab’s content isn’t gone, it has just vanished one screen height deeper, i simply overlooked the scrollbars (fool i! i tested for over half an hour with several browsers, de-installed and re-installed and all).

as i understand you, there’s nothing hide_in_admin could have done to cause the scroll problem, right?
do you think it can be the effect of another plugin-installation at all?

Wow, this is great.
Nice to see the way its been logically built, and even if you’re not a txp pro (I’m not), this is a handy plug in for tidying up the interface, making unwanted fields invisible.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] ied_hide_in_admin version 0.1.: Hide Fields in Admin

uli, an uninstalled hide_in_admin definitely cannot cause any problems, including scroll ones.

James, you are welcome. I was glad to hide some fields myself :)
