Re: XML RPC TXP WTF? Please tell us more about this...

Man…when this xml-rpc thing was announced, I let out a big yawn because I had no idea what it meant and wasn’t curious enough to look it up. Eventually I started researching it and was slightly intrigued. Then I found Performancing, installed it in Firefox and NOW I’m excited. This is really cool.

So, to whoever created this, my hat is off to you (or you all, as the case may be). This is very nice stuff.

Can you explain what settings you’ve used in FF please? Cheers.

Not sure what you mean by settings in Firefox. I didn’t have to change anything in Firefox – I just installed the Performancing extension (of course, this was after I installed the xml-rpc thing on my server). I followed the client installation instructions that you can click on when you download the xml-rpc add-on. Let me know if I’m missing something and I’ll try to help.

Aren’t there any security problems? When I tell Performancing the logins to all my blogs and passwords and user names for the different ftp-accounts, where is this information stored?

..asks an insecure newbie, who couldn’t find this information on Performancing’s homepage.

On your computer. But, you should direct these kind of questions to the people that make Performancing. :)

I’m not sure. What would the people who made Outlook have answered, if I would have asked them about security risks? ;-)

“Go buy Exchange Server”, I’d imagine? :)

Well… I don’t think you can use Microsoft as an example of what open source developers would do. :D

Yes, I found out Firefox stores all the password data – just like the ‘normal’ site passwords.
This is pretty safe, I guess.
Though this message: ‘Do you REALLY, REALLY want to see your passwords?’ and the blinking skull and crossbones worry me a little…;-)
