Please tell me if my project can be text patterned?
Hey guys,
I have been struggling to find a suitable cms for my new project. I have written off Cutenews, Jooma, Mambo Open Source and some other CMSs and I don’t know what to do. I can’t seem to find a cms that I am happy working with. Joomla seems a little too much for me, and Cutenews seems too little for me.
I have been here before and I really need some help from someone making this work. Can someone please tell me if I will successfully be able turn my prototype which can be found here: www.webdesignpress.com into a text pattern site?
These features are essential for this new project:
- Users can sign up and post articles in different categories
- Users should able to edit and add articles from the frontend
- I should have a page for every category, and that page should have listings of different articles
- I also have some stand alone pages that do not need to be textpatterned
- The layout and links etc should look the same as it looks now at www.webdesignpress.com
And some others…
I would love it if I had someone who would like to personally assist me with this. And if everything goes well and it works properly, I will be glad to pay some money that I have in my paypal account, not too much though because I have a very low budget and low balance of money.
How much will it take to get my site textpatterned, and will it be a pain to do? Will I need to edit so many things? Will I be able to do it with the flexibility and structure that I want.
And final of all, will I be able to achieve a CMS like www.webdesign.org has, because that is what I am aiming for. I would love it if someone helped out!

You can get external authors to register and contribute articles via a front_end with the help of manfre’s mem_register and mem_moderation plug-ins but it’s not a particular strength of txp out of the box. This is an example site that uses this approach using txp.
I’ve not tried it, but I’m told that expression engine/pmachine will handle this more straightforwardly.
