Something causes IE to shut down, but what?

Would someone please have a look at this page in IE? There is a menu at the bottom of the page (text only), every time I hover the mouse over it the items sort of move and IE is shut down (this is in IE6). In Firefox and Opera this doesn’t happen, and I can’t see anything wrong in the code.
I’m also having some other troubles (not in IE but with Firefox) where strange things happen on the screen, so I suppose it might be possible that it’s not the site but my screen or graphic drivers or whatever it may be… So if anyone else experiences the same with this page I’ll at least know it’s not my pc.

Edit: I don’t even know if this is the right forum to post in…

Weird!
It happened to me too: when I hovered the mouse over the items in the bottom menu, IE waas shutted down.
Also, it hanged up the Firefox when hovering inside an IE tab…

Re: Something causes IE to shut down, but what?

This is incorrect (around line 27 on all stylesheets):

<code>
#header a:hover img
#comments-gedrag .comment-right { background-color: #d4e3ad; }
{ text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 1px dashed #000;
}
</code>

This is incorrect (around line 233):

<code>
  1. skippy a:hover {border: 0;}
    </code>

And yes, it crashed my browser in IE.

Let php parse your page, the do a save as HTML then open it again in Firefox. There’s some big problem with the HTML itself.

Thanks Walker, forgot to remove these. Done now. Unfortunately this doesn’t stop IE’s behaviour.

I’m going to do that right away. Thanks so far, I’ll report back.

Awesome. Lemme know what you find.

That’s some pretty serious IE hatred coming from that page.

Er… then what? I saved the page as html, opened it in Firefox: fine, opened it in IE: same problem. How do I find out what is wrong?

hrm….weird.

When I opened the saved HTML in FF, FF wouldn’t even display the whole page…..nor would IE 6 (this was all on a PC using XP)

Re: Something causes IE to shut down, but what?

Well, I’m getting a notice in IE that IE ‘restricted the file in displaying active content, that might give access to your computer’ (my translation, it’s in Dutch). When I leave it that way, and hover over the bottom menu, it doesn’t move, but IE hangs. When I allow the blocked content, same thing as before happens.

It displays the whole page for me, except for the background images.

Doggiez , that’s weird, same results I get, with that obscure bug report popup, without even knowing what you would send (if).
Could it be may be that it dislikes the script elements in the body at the bottom.
What would happen if you removed the link:<code><a href=”#” title=“naar boven”>top</a></code> from the footers link section? Or if you would wrap them in list items , instead of having them all in one paragraph.

Nice Site though, I just stumbled over the dogs psychology PDF,pretty interesting (We’ve got an Erdale 6 Month ago), but unfortunately it is not very well readable.

regards, marios

Ok, try this.

See the <br /> above the footer? Remove it and see if it works.

I copied the source to test it out locally and I swear that evertime I take it out, IE doesn’t crash…put it back in and IE calls me dirty names and crashes.

Re: Something causes IE to shut down, but what?

whatbrick, you’re right!!! That works! Thank you so much! But WHY? This is the weirdest thing I’ve ever come across, a <br /> that causes so much trouble…

(@marios: thanks :) Where is the PDF you’re referring to?)

Edit: whatbrick, I’m pretty curious what on earth made you think about removing the br?
