Re: [request] Import del.icio.us bookmarks
I like to pick up the issue again. If Andrew is busy (seems so) then may be someone else can help ?
Background is: on TXP Mag we store lots of links on del.icio.us but they restrict the amount of links we can receive. All of a sudden linklists disappear which is annoying. Anybody having a solution or a neat idea how we can get the linklists into txp?

Re: [request] Import del.icio.us bookmarks
I actually just started working on this again a few days ago (I had gotten distracted with a major project and, quite honestly, just forgot).
It’s very near completion, however I’m still wrangling with a few issues. For instance, how to import tags; I just don’t think it’s easily achievable. Second, I’m sure there will be inevitable encoding issues for a few users. Also, many users have hundreds, if not thousands, of links stored in del.icio.us. This can make the import process kind of unfriendly or brute-force.
It’ll likely take a bit more testing, but this should at least be at v0.1 within a day or two (for real, this time).

Re: [request] Import del.icio.us bookmarks
Andrew, thanks so much for picking this up at all. Please don´t feel under pressure. I survived without such a plugin the past 5 months, i will not die in the next 48 hours ;).
TXP Mag´s links can be found on http://del.icio.us/txp. For me it is not necessary the links get stored in txp under the same tags. If i can help testing. let me know.

Re: [request] Import del.icio.us bookmarks
(in the event someone does need tag importing…)
Tags are a flat hierarchy (as opposed to Textpattern’s taxonomical category system), so I would recommend that all tags be imported into a parent category, like ‘Imported’ so as to initially separate them from any exisiting link categories.
Unfortunately, Textpattern still has no power-editing system for categories, so you’ll be manually deleting a ton of categories (tags) if you don’t want or need them. Bringing them into a hierarchical structure (parent/child) and renaming will have to be done manually post-import as well.
I’m not really sure of any way to make tag importing any easier, unless someone has a brilliant idea? I may just launch this initially without tag importing.

Re: [request] Import del.icio.us bookmarks
Oh yeah, the #1 reason why tags won’t be implemented in this plugin: currently, Textpattern only allows one category per link. So for now, no tags ;-)

Re: [request] Import del.icio.us bookmarks
Andrew, i installed the plugin for testin but do not know what i have to do to get the links imported as the helpf files does not say anything about it.
2. question: is it possible to import links from a single tag .. in other words: import links tag by tag?

Re: [request] Import del.icio.us bookmarks
The ‘instructions’ is pretty much what is explained through the import (or export) process. Since I anticipate the need to expand this to other bookmarking services, I figured it’d be way too much to include in the help and opted to include it individually for each during import or export. No good?
From a single tag? Let me take a look at it. Might be messy, but you never know.

Re: [request] Import del.icio.us bookmarks
The plugin should appear under the extensions tab in your Textpattern admin interface. Then select the ‘ajw_bookmarks’ tab and choose ‘Import bookmarks from del.icio.us’. After entering your del.icio.us username, the import steps should be displayed for you.
Sorry about having an empty ‘help’ dialogue; I’ll work on filling that out soon.

Re: [request] Import del.icio.us bookmarks
Sorry Andrew, but there is not extension tab. I checked that several times. The plugin install went well and it is switched to live. You can get access to TXP Mag if you like.

Me too. I cant see ajw_bookmarks under extentions either. I double checked with both txp 4.02 and 4.03.

Re: [request] Import del.icio.us bookmarks
Uh, yeah… it’d help it if I actually set it as an admin side plugin. D’oh. Fixed. (details, details ;-)
