publish under different authors without logging out and in
I’m building a TXP site to replace a static version which contains articles written by a number of authors. I’d like to upload the articles while saving the original author as the writer. At the moment I become the writer of any article I upload. Is there anyway for me to modify the author once an article is published?
Or am I going to have to create users and login as them to publish?
I can also see a use for this in the future. Not all writers will be able to upload their own stories and I may have to do so for them…
By the way, what happens if I delete a user? Who becomes the author of their articles.
Thanks!

This plugin allows you to change authors on the fly from the article edit screen.

Re: publish under different authors without logging out and in
Hi david, I’ve got a similar situation to you. My church site has a bunch of contributors who submit their articles to be published on the site. Since they sometimes don’t contribute regularly it makes no sense to create an author account just for them.
In my case I used custom fields as a solution. First go to admin -> preferences -> advanced prefernces and change one of the custom field names to “ArticleContributor”. Then in your article form you will have Posted by <txp:custom_field name="ArticleContributor" />
More info on the custom_field

Thanks Tom & David. Both excellent suggestions. I’m looking into the pros and cons of each.
