Re: New Forum structure
I just thought I’d mention it :) I know a lot of people using 800×600 (including my laptop ;p ).
That works fine :)

Re: New Forum structure
Thanks for the corrections. I’ve decided to go with the reductionist approach on the labels while still keeping the base meaning and letting titles elaborate specifics.
The wiki doesn’t perfectly fit in 800×600 because of it’s complicated layout (but it’s close). In fact, certain articles in the wiki have images wider that 800px (though that’s more from bad authoring than anything else).
One problem I do see, however, is the search box getting pushed on top of the tabs at 800 × 600. Might have to move that back to the top of the left column, or maybe put it in its own bar right under the community links bar at the top.
We’ll see how it works out when 1cog finishes his thing, and in any case aim to get a min of 800px width working in the long run.

Re: New Forum structure
Destry, looks good in Opera 8.52.
An idea: what do you thing about making the Textbook TXP yellow instead of the orange hues? I can’t remember if it ever was that way, it just occured to me.

Re: New Forum structure
Seems like the new forum gave us all some inspiration :)
This is how the NavBars are by site:
Forum:
Textpattern.com Developer Weblog Frequently Asked Questions TextBook Textpattern Resources TextGarden TXP Magazine Mailing Lists
TextBook:
Textpattern.com Developer Weblog FAQ TextBook Textpattern Resources TxP Forum TxP Magazine Mailing Lists
TextGarden:
Textpattern.com Developer Weblog FAQ TextBook Textpattern Resources TXP Forum TXP Magazine Mailing Lists
- Textpattern TxP Blog Txp Faq TextBook TxP Forum TxP Resources TextGarden TxP Magazine
- Included every site in the TxP family
- Removed .com from Textpattern, saved 4 characters
- Mailing Lists removed, can be linked to from Developer Blog, saved 13 characters
- Standardized the naming convention, saved 19 characters
- NavBar is down to 85 characters

Re: New Forum structure
@Destry – Well it would seem when I view TextBook in IE the search box ends up under the logo regardless of resolution. In FF it works fine where it is, so maybe placing it under the logo to start with is the way to go other than giving it it’s own bar as you suggest.
@hcgtv – I see where you are going with keeping the text as short as possible but I would suggest liberal use of the “title” attribute in the links to give more information about where each link is taking you.

Re: New Forum structure
Guys
Don’t worry about these CSS-related issues too much now – I’ve addressed all (?) of them in the revised stylesheet / template. Plus, if y’ all are changing the current CSS at the same time as me it’s gonna be more work to tie it all up. I’ll try and get the revised CSS out later today.
P.S. Nit-picking: shouldn’t it be ‘Txp’, not ‘TxP’? Afterall it’s ‘Textpattern’ and not ‘TextPattern’. Following that convention, I guess it should be ‘Textbook’ and ‘Textgarden’?

Re: New Forum structure
@David – This was mentioned a little earlier in the thread and decided that it should either be TXP or Txp (which I think, like you, is more correct). For my own part I have always used TXP and I think this is the most common form used by most people so maybe we should stick with it.
As for Textbook and Textgarden that might pose a problem particularly for TextGarden as I don’t have the original graphics for the header, and if you check the site it is actually textgarden. I would have difficulty changing that without creating a totally new graphic which isn’t one of my strong points. :(

Re: New Forum structure
Stuart, if need be I could help you with that. I finally did get a tablet. Not that I’m good with it yet, but changing some text I can do well.
For what its worth.

I thank you Matthew but let’s see how this thread develops before we jump off the cliff. ;)

Try pinching a little antenna out of some gum wrappers and sticking it in your ears. It works great, you can hear them all!!!
