Well, 1rc5 isn’t officially supported (it was a release candidate), so I’d encourage you to upgrade (plus there’s a whack of goodies since). I don’t have a copy of 1rc5 on hand. What does your line 1112 look like?

also, if i upgrade from 1rc5 to the latest, will my system break? like—malfunctioning plugins or anything?

There were changes to some kinds of plugins, it really depends on which ones you’re using. Before you do any update, it’s a very good idea to backup your database. Setting up a test run wouldn’t hurt, then you’re not monkeying with a live site while you’re trying to get it all sorted.
