Moving textpattern - Same server but change of directory

I wish to move my website from http://www.mysite.com/dev to http://www.mysite.com.
If I understand things correctly, do I simply need to put the contents of the “dev/” folder into the root of the website and change the following in the admin – preferences section

Site URL
Temp folder – from /home/content/b/h/u/bhutz/html/dev/textpattern/tmp TO /home/content/b/h/u/bhutz/html/textpattern/tmp
File Upload Path – from /home/content/b/h/u/bhutz/html/dev/textpattern/tmp TO /home/content/b/h/u/bhutz/html/textpattern/tmp

Is there anything else I may have missed?

site_to_path gets automatically adjusted in the database, when you watch the fron-page or the backend.

But you have to change the path in config.php!

I think that should be it.

Re: Moving textpattern - Same server but change of directory

Things seemed to have worked ok,

I changed the config.php as instructed and this made the changes in the admin preferences section

I also had to change my site URL from http://www.mysite.com/dev to http://www.mysite.com as all links to articles and sections were showing things like http://www.mysite.com/dev/photos rather than http://www.mysite.com/photos which is what I wanted.

Happy days

Re: Moving textpattern - Same server but change of directory

now just wait a minute…

a very similar situation . . . http://www.msg-inc.org/cms is the original setup, which we are now trying to move to http://www.msg-inc.org

copied all the fies, updated config.php and the admin section, and anything else we could think of. Currently, the site works at http://www.msg-inc.org/cms OR http://www.msg-inc.org/index.php but crashes with a 500 internal server error at http://www.msg-inc.org. Any suggestions? .htaccess appears to have been uploaded correctly, by the way.

Yes, I have tried turning it off and on.

alesh,

You have no index.html or equal laying around in the root? Simple to miss, done it myself sometimes :)

Re: Moving textpattern - Same server but change of directory

no index.htm or index.html file is present, although I did try creating one with an automatic redirect to index.php. That didn’t work either, but that solution would not really have been satisfactory in the long run. here’s the diagnostic info (interesting – the htaccess file seems to have loaded):

Textpattern version: 1.0rc3
Document root: /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/msg-inc.org/httpdocs
$path_to_site: /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/msg-inc.org/httpdocs
Textpattern path: /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/msg-inc.org/httpdocs/textpattern
Permanent link mode: messy
Temp folder: /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/msg-inc.org/httpdocs/textpattern/tmp
Site URL: www.msg-inc.org
PHP version: 4.3.4
Register globals: 1
Magic quotes: 1/0
Locale: en_GB.ISO_8859-1
Server: Apache/1.3.29 (Unix) FrontPage/5.0.2.2623

.htaccess file contents:
————————————
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
RewriteRule ^(.+) – [PT,L]

RewriteRule ^(.*) index.php
————————————

Yes, I have tried turning it off and on.

Re: Moving textpattern - Same server but change of directory

I take it from the silence that this is probably not an issue within Textpattern. I have contacted the tech support of the web host (Globat), who unfortounately has been unhelpful so far.

Re: Moving textpattern - Same server but change of directory

I have just moved my site from a subdirectory to the main directory. My front page works, but when i click on any sections or perm links, i get file not found errors. When I switch to messy urls, the perm links work fine. I did the necessary steps- changed my config.php and site address in the admin screen. Any ideas? thanks

Did you move your .htaccess up one level?
