Plug-In Request: Links with tags

May it be possible to add a field to the link field so that we could have an option to add tags?

This would allow to make really cool link lists, together with the plug-in tfu_linklog

txp at irox.de since spring 2004 (g1.17) & at roxomatic since 2006.

Not as a plugin, but as a hack yes. You’d also need to add a field to txp_link.

Re: Plug-In Request: Links with tags

As an aside, I personally dislike using articles as link logs. They make for strange feeds and confuse me. I also think people reverting to formatting them this way is a side effect of a serious lack of link features currently in Txp. I really wish that a plugin ‘hook’ feature will be implemented soon so that we can start making plugins that can modify the admin interface. <code></rant></code>

Re: Plug-In Request: Links with tags

I like Txp’s dedicated links list handling & interface — but would be great if it was extended…

could then work a little like TypePad’s TypeLists —

in the sense that it’s a lists manager … lists of links, or currently listening, or as I wanted, a list of audio files available for download (title, url=path-to-mp3, description, audio length, link to post about the broadcast)

just needed 2 extra fields — can use categories to pull em out of the general links mix (altho higher level ordering system would be better)

currently using articles for this and that’s ok

and on feature requests, that jmr_gallery thing, with multiple images associated within an article, that can be browsed within the post… that’s gotta be in there by default : )

Re: Plug-In Request: Links with tags

Kossatsch: Why exactly do you want tag support? If you’re looking for advanced navigation and filtering options on your own site, existing plug-ins can probably do the trick:

The tfu_linklog plug-in makes it possible to keep extensive link logs in Textpattern without resorting to the article format. tfu_linkog supports date-based link display and navigation, as well as a search feature that looks for matches in each link’s Title, Description, URL and Category fields. In my experience, this makes it reasonably easy to find what you’re after. If there is demand for filtering links by category, I will consider adding this functionality to tfu_linklog (tbd in the plug-in thread). Or, if you just want grouped link display, you could use the mem_glinklist plug-in.

For del.icio.us users, there is the txp.icio.us plug-in that lets you display your del.icio.us links, filtered by tags, on your Txp site. Adding tag search functionality and formatting options to that plug-in may be possible, but it would probably be considered abusive by del.icio.us.

So there are quite a few options for link display and navigation, but if you’re after the cumulative, “social” effect of tags as seen in del.icio.us and flickr, I’m afraid that just adding a custom ‘tags’ field to Txp’s link format won’t do. Not that a Txp folksonomy wouldn’t be an interesting feature..

Re: Plug-In Request: Links with tags

Folksonomy in TP with/freetag ?

i was thinking the same…

imo it would be a great addition to have a Folksonomy view of articles or tags from the TP database.

http://getluky.net/freetag/

offers an open source php/mysql solution… but i’m not a dev so that’s as far as i go :)

anyone want to take a stab at making a plug-in.
cheers,brian
